Welcome to BR. I am assuming the current you are talking about is coming from the direction the wind is blowing. We will need a little more info so we can give you some advice. Is this pond spring feed, what is the average dept and does it have any structure like ( standing timber, lay downs etc. ) Sounds like it has some nice fish in it. Congrats on your catch.

It's hard to find a hook as good as the LC's have on them. From the first time I seen one of their baits I was impressed with the hook.

At 40 degrees, I would try to find the bait fish and once you locate them I would go after them with a 3/4oz Hopkins and 8lb test line. More often than not you will find the fish around 25 - 35'. Either way, when you find the bait fish you can bet that the bass will be close by. My second choice would be a 1oz spinner bait with a #3 and a 4-1/2 willow blade on lite line and a 5:1 reel and just turn the handle enough to feel the blades.

I use this site all the time. It gives info on what the rivers in eastern NC are doing before I get to a tournament in the mornings. When I know weather the river is rising or falling up stream helps me a lot in making my game plan. It also helps my bank account.
