Cabelas ZX rods: what blank / manufacturer
Hmm Daiwa doesn’t offer a 6’ 9” rod that is similar. Their 6’ 9” her bait rod is like a soggy noodle.

Cabelas ZX rods: what blank / manufacturer
Does anyone know who made the blanks or manufactured the bow discontinued Cabela’s ZX series rods? Specifically, the 6’ 9 Medium fast jerkabit rod? I currently have one and frankly, it’s a perfect jerkbait rod. Not whippy when working the bait, but really loads up and turns into a noodle when with a fish on. Also, extremely light and perfectly balanced. Im just looking for it’s twin.

Try As I Might, Never Have I Ever Caught A Bass On A ___ .
That’s about how long it took me to finally get my first glide bait fish. Then something happened, I was BS’ing with some guy in a pontoon boat and had been taking my hand off the reel to point and animate the conversation - then WHAM! Not a big one, but the first one. Since then it’s been lights out.

Well, my spot-lock stinks
Check the pedal and head. Make sure that nothing is obstructing either.

10-12K Older Boat, What was built well
1997 to early 2000's. I think in 1999 they updated the top cap to make them look a little newer. They were introduced as the R80 (single console) and R82 (dual console) and then when they were updated were called R81/R83.

10-12K Older Boat, What was built well
You can probably find an excellent Ranger R80 or 82, or 460 series in that price range. From the factory you may not be able to get an 8’ rod in the locker, but you can easily modify the ends of the rod locker to fit a close to 9’ rod. I have the R70 (17’ version, the R80 is the 18’ version) and with about 20 minutes with an oscillating tool in the bow end of the rod lockers, I can easily fit my 867 Dobyns swimbait rod.

What do you like/dislike about your setup?
I have the following: Helix 12 at the console with 2D / DI / SI Helix 12 + Helix 9 at the Bow with 2D / DI / SI / Mega 360 at the bow I usually run the console on SI + Map. I use that to find under water structure / cover and then occasionally switch it over to 2D to run back over it to see if there are fish on it. The only thing I don't like about the Helix is that it takes a while to scroll over to waypoints. Touchscreen would be great and is offered with Solix, but they sure do have some serious amp draw. On the console I run Map + 2D on the Helix 9 and Mega 360 on the Helix 12. This way I can now where my boat sits in relation to structure / cover at all times. Sometimes have two graphs up front makes it feel cluttered. Otherwise. I wouldn't change a thing. I have the SI transducer on the trolling motor, but with having 360 I never use it.

Your Favorite Rage Tail Baits?
Rage Bug - Pinch it - Pull it - Twist it into about any variety of soft plastic you want. I have been known to remove all of the appendages and toss it out there limbless and catch fish.

That is another reason for the name. Not easily identifiable.

It’s easy to remember and doesn’t require any numbers or special characters (not otherwise taken).

Front or back of boat. Who has better fishing?
In general it favors the captain. That being said, in cases of an unskilled or inexperienced captain that’s a team player this may not be true. For someone who is trying to position the boat for both anglers but is still struggling with that skill, it may take quite a bit of every from the fishing and redirect it to the navigating. In this case, the back seater will likely have the advantage.

Opinion on power pole color
While I think the black poles would be slightly more aesthetically pleasing, that would only be true when they are very clean, which is impossible to do. As stated above, they water spot terribly and even a wipe down immediately after getting off the water every time is not enough to keep them from looking gross. I don’t think the white will show the water spots and water line as bad (but should still be wiped after ever take out). I would pick the white color.

60hp or 75hp, that is the question.
Biggest motor you can get. It’ll be one less thing to think about in the future. Honestly, it probably won’t make a huge difference while your fishing, but when you’re not fishing I could imagine some thoughts such as: ”I wonder if I could get up on plan better.” ”I wonder if how much faster I would go.” etc. Get the 75 hp and be done with it.

You can if you do not fire up the big motor. You also have to take the prop off too. But you can definitely put a fiberglass boat on it.

- MEGA Live has been "officially" announced
^^this. If I find structure/cover with electronics I am probably going to cast to it independent of if I can see something moving around near it with the live system. The live systems aren't quite good enough yet to convince me there are absolutely no fish hiding around. - MEGA Live has been "officially" announced
