  1. Don't know of any public lakes near Platte city. Most small lakes in the Northland are private. Smithville and Watkins mill are the only two public lakes I know near the north side of kc. Wyandotte county lake and shawnee mission lake are on the Kansas side, but you need a permit to fish them.
  2. In my opinion, for bottom contact baits, there is no copoly line that can compare to good fluoro for sensitivity or abrasion resistance. My preference is sunline sniper. Suffix advance or McCoys mean green are my 2 favorite copoly lines. Both have good abrasion resistance and are pretty sensitive for copoly. Line memory is also not bad. I personally don't care for yozuri hybrid. In my hands it has very little sensitivity and the line memory is worse than most fluorocarbon lines.
  3. your dealer is confused. I was told the following directly from Minn Kota: All calibartion does is setup the heading sensor puck. The heading sensor is for spotlock jog only. It has nothing to do with how well spotlock holds position. You can run spotlock without the puck, but the spotlock jog will not work properly. Spotllock works best if there is a little wind or current to work against. If the motor is overcompensating and shutting off in calm water, try turning down the boat scale setting. I did this and never had another problem.
  4. Not Asian, but lone wolf Mcquade is probably my favorite martial arts movies. for Asian martial arts movies. Enter the dragon. Bruce Lee Drunken master. Jackie Chan
  5. In my younger years I fished a lot of tournaments. I was the secretary of our local club for 10 years. in those 10 years the club changed from a buddy tournament for fun, with low entry fees to a cut throat circuit with higher entry fees and payouts. that is when I gave up on tournaments. I understand the draw to tournament fishing and the desire to make that your occupation, but it is public water. Nobody has more right to an area than anyone else. A tournament fisherman has no more right to a fishing spot than a family bobber fishing for bluegills.
  6. I use 3 worms for most shakyhead fishing. 1: zoom trick worm. It is my go to worm. 2: zoom shakyhead worm. I use this when I want a little more finesse. It has a skinnier tail than the trick worm. 3: yum dinger. I use this in stained water. It has a thicker profile. If I want the worm to standup while resting, I switch from a shakyhead to a Neko rig using one of the above worms.
  7. It depends on where you are fishing. On the Kansas reservoirs that have both species, the smallmouth is the most targeted.
  8. Thursday 7:20 pm. On NBC. Chiefs vs Texans
  9. I have a 7 inch mega si hummingbird on my console, and a 7 inch di on my bow. To be honest I very seldom use the down imaging on the bow. Usually just have 2d and the GPS map on the screen. I use the side imaging at the console quite a bit. I have a Minn kota ultrex trolling motor and have never felt the need for I pilot link. Some people go way overboard for weekend boats and never use half of the functions they buy.

Baby back Ribs and beer can chicken going in the smoker at 10 this morning.
  14. Good luck . The pleasure boaters will probably be out in force this weekend. If you are going to fish I would go early. Last labor day I made the mistake of staying too long at Smithville. Got buzzed by multiple jet skis and slammed into a dock when a wake boat ignored the no wake zone. My boat still has battle scars from that incident. The boat ramp at WYCO can be pretty entertaining on Labor day weekend. If you are not trying to use the ramp yourself. Fights and arrests are common.
  15. Most bass boats have 12 volt somewhere on the bow. for fishfinder, running lights, etc. As @Tennessee Boy mentioned the puck is just for the spotlock jog, with the remote control. the jog will still work. It just might go in the direction you intend. In 4 years I have used the remote and spotlock jog 2 times.

To me, the only way to cook a brisket is low and slow. considering the money that is invested in a 15 pound brisket, I want it to turn out near perfect. I cook at 225 degrees until the brisket reaches 195 degrees. a 15 pound brisket might take 18 hours, but it is well worth it.
  17. Every sonar brand I have seen works the same way. The very right side of the screen is live under the boat. anything to the left of that is history.
  18. the gps puck just needs 12 volt. red to positive black to negative.. the puck communicates with the trolling motor via bluetooth. it does not have any physical connections to the motor. If your maxim was 24 volt, do not connect the puck to that power. it will burn it up. if there is a fish finder on the bow, you can connect the puck to that power.
  19. As I get older the boat is definitely my favorite. My kayak has been hanging in the basement for 1.5 years. Considering selling it.
  20. If I am on the water, I am fishing. If the fish are there, a few will always bite something. Obviously some days are more productive than others. If the fishing is slow, I am looking for better areas or trying new baits. I can't count the days that started out slow and turned productive because I tried something out of my comfort zone.
  21. anything 7:1 or higher is used for low drag or vertical baits. spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, crankbaits etc. I use 6.3:1. baits with a lot of drag wears out my wrist with high ratio reels.
  22. I own 2 Savage Axis II rifles. one in .308 for deer and one in 22-250 for coyotes. they are both very accurate. Both are light and comfortable to shoot. I can confidently Harvest whitetails out to 200 yards with the .308. I have shot coyotes out to 475 yards with the 22-250. If I was a serious long range shooter. I would probably buy more expensive rifles. Until then the axis rifles do just fine.
  23. If I am spending money on nice things, they will get used heavily. I grew up middle class. We were not poor, but we did not have excess. My dad's philosophy was, if you buy something use it. If it sits around sell it.
  24. Zoom ol. monster with a 1/4 oz. Tungsten weight. I use it for other baits, but this time of year it is my dedicated big worm rod.
  25. For me a Texas rig is used more for fishing a particular piece of structure. A carolina rig is used to cover a larger area. often times the two techiques overlap. between the two, I fish a Texas rig 95 percent of the time.
