Haven't tried dropshotting yet so was reading up on it. The article I was reading talked about using a pegged worm weight at the end of the line to keep from losing the whole rig. Those of you that use dropshotting, does this make any sense or does this just set you up to lose a lot of worm weights ;D? Also, the depth you are fishing determines how much weight you use. Is there an average weight for fishing say 15' or 20'? Thanks for any help !!! As Ever, skillet
  4. The way they are made, rigged wacky, should have great action... As Ever. skillet
  5. Haven't used pegged hooks yet. I could see how they would be off-kilter :-/. Have always rigged plastics so they just cover end of hook and knot... As Ever, skillet

  12. You wrote that your rod was a M. Mine is MH (little more backbone). More hookset ;Dclears that up. Haven't used braid. The copoly I use is Yo-Zuri UltraSoft 6lb. Cabela's sells it. You can get P Line CX easier, little bit of a memory problem. Whatever copoly you get, try some KVD line conditioner. Take nylon cloth and spray it on the cloth, reel your line on running it thru the cloth and then night before you go fishing put a couple of squirts on your line. Helps with memory problems and casts a little farther. Also with copoly, it lasts longer because ultraviolet sun rays doesn't bother it... As Ever, skillet
  13. It just seems like the folks who make these reels don't upgrade their technology. Pretty much haven't changed since they first started making them. The one I've heard anything about is the Zebco Omega. Have never tried one. I think they cost between $50 and $60... As Ever, skillet
  14. If it's really thick, I have better luck with T-rigs. Seems to come thru the vegetation better... As Ever, skillet
  15. All my rods are M except for the spinning rod which is a MH which means it probably is closer to M. IMHO your M shouldn't be the problem. On a trip to a pond that I get to fish every now and then (REAL nice fish), I missed 3 fish that really should have gotten hooked . I was using 12lb Stren mono. I had been thinking about changing to a copoly because of the stretch in mono. I changed over and it seems to have made a big difference. Maybe the fish is just holding the bait and the stretch in the mono is keeping you from making a good hookset :-/... As Ever, skillet

  21. Mostly fishing from the bank like I do, when first learning, I would hook something behind me and have to cut my hand out before I could think about the reel ;D! STILL do it every now and then, just trained my thumb to clamp down immediately! Really helps... As Ever, skillet
