  4. Have been fishing a lake where the vegetation comes all the way to the surface . If the lake is like that you might try weightless Super Flukes. Have done pretty good with them. WELCOME to the forums!!! As Ever, skillet
  5. Walley World carries the Strike King in 1/8... As Ever, skillet
  6. I'll try and help with this. Just have 2 reels with 6.2:1 and 1 with 5.0:1 so if I'm wrong maybe someone will correct me. 5.1:1 Would definitely be crankbaits 6.2:1 Pretty much anything T-rig, spinnerbaits to topwater 7.3:1 Burning baits like lipless cranks (Rat-l-traps) and buzz baits Maybe one of the Cali guys will help with the swimbaits. Hope info is right and it helped... As Ever, skillet
  7. No bigger than it's mouth looks in the pic, it's a wonder it got hooked! As Ever, skillet

"12-15 deep on a 12 in. worm" Teria, you didn't do OK, you did GREAT ... As Ever, skillet
  10. I had always used baitcasters until about 2 years ago. After listening to other members here singing the praises of spinning gear, I broke down finally. I bought a Shimano Symetre 2500 and caught a Berkley Bionix MH at Wally World on clearance for $20. I use it mainly for fishing Super Flukes, finesse worms and in-line spinners (Mepps) on small lakes and ponds. They are a LOT of fun to fish! I hooked and landed a 6lb bass a couple of weeks ago. That's about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on !!! Low light and warmer water is usually best for top water but if I get the itch any time is right. Topwater RULES... As Ever, skillet
  11. CONGRATS !!! As Ever, skillet
  12. Great fish (both of 'em), and on the same day !!! As Ever, skillet
  13. 7lb1oz is nice anywhere ... As Ever, skillet
  14. Sam, felt the way you do. :'(UNTIL :'(caught a PB this Spring and weighed it on my Rapala at 7lb15oz. Week or so ago went to a state run lake with grocery style scales. Caught nice fish that weighed about 5 1/2 on my scale and then weighed it on state scale.......slight hair under 6. My PB would actually been over 8 :'(. In the sceam of things this means less than a hill of beans to most folks...BUT... :'( As Ever, skillet

Friends called yesterday afternoon wanting us to go to see it at the matinee ($9 for matinee tickets ). REALLY enjoyed it! Glad they brought "Mary" back from the 1st one and the actress that played the bad guy was great! As far as Indy the 3rd is concerned, sign of the times ... As Ever, skillet BTW Would sure like to get my hands on the Knuckle Head HD. It stole the show ;D

You got GREAT answers about baits! Everything about fishing is pretty much opinion. IMHO learn to tie knots faster! Swivels are just one more thing to buy and the fewer things between you and the fish the better ... As Ever, skillet
  17. Two things: I always skin hook my baits (like you) and what Catt said X2... As Ever, skillet BTW seriously didn't plan the rhyming
  18. It's REALLY hard for me to get away from them (don't want to)! Haven't fished the baits you mentioned but it sounds like a good start (the Bait Monkey's gonna love you ;D). I like Super Flukes myself and instead of nameing them all, I'll just say most of the Zoom products!!! As Ever, skillet
  19. Pretty much what the other folks said, big bait=big fish but that sure doesn't mean they won't hit a smaller bait ... As Ever, skillet
  20. "older 'n dirt" pretty much describes my age also! Have 2 Citica 200Ds and an older (real older) ABU Garcia. Have never used the lighter reels so maybe I don't know what I'm missing. After a long day of fishing I sure notice things (arms, elbows, wrists and back, I guess that pretty much covers the whole gosh durned package)more than it used to . Don't think an ounce or so would make that much difference ... As Ever, skillet
  21. I know I have worried several members to death :Pover something I needed to know...and they still "speak" to me ;D!!! As Ever, skillet

  24. On a first outing to a new lake sounds like you did OK! Could use a little more info on type of lake and such. Actually hard question to answer. This isn't much of an answer, but it could have been a lot of things from wrong area to wrong depth or what my Daddy used to say,"You weren't holding your mouth right ". I didn't think it was funny then either. Pay close attention to what you were doing when you did catch fish... As Ever, skillet
  25. What types of bait are you using, maybe change up! Try early or late in the day. Try different depths. Let us know how you do and WELCOME to the forums!!! As Ever, skillet
