  1. Nothing to laugh about. It's why most of us joined,to learn. Info is too good to add much except, when (not if) you gain confidence in them they are a hard habit to break... As Ever, Skillet
  2. Don't mean to throw a bucket of cold water in your direction, I got the itch for some different colors myself . Took a few old spinners and cleaned the heads, put skirts on them, painted heads to match skirts, changed some of the blades and even put those realistic looking bulging eyes on them. Man, they are pretty if I do say so myself. ;D Guess there is a reason those old favorite colors are old favorites. Haven't caught a fish on the ones I changed :-[ :'(. IMHO you can buy several new spinners for that $30, or if you are just wanting to do it, ROLL WITH IT my friend... As Ever, Skillet

Whittler, Really great info on that post ! I've one question and may be about to answer it. Did you use 3/16 hole to get the glue in there? Was sitting here thinking about it and I guess the BBs are an 1/8 :-[. Guess I'll shut up and just say great info As Ever, Skillet
  4. Personal feelings aside my friend, it was both! You may have considered yourself stopping short of the line. Your momentum carried you face first over it! I really thought most folks understood the rules around here. Can't say I like rules anymore than the next person, I think you just showed why they're there... As Ever, Skillet BTW So you don't get the wrong idea, I put "my friend" in there on purpose...
  5. I resemble those remarks ! Can't cop to the grey on top, lost too much up there to be much of any color :'(... As Ever, Skillet
  6. DAYUMM! T-rig As Ever, Skillet
  7. My, my, my! Things sure have a way of going downhill rapidly around here . I love it ;D!!! As Ever, Skillet
  8. Never tried a really nice (exp.) pair, so I don't have something to compare. I know I had just about given up on less expensive ones. The distortion in them made me crazy(well crazier may be the right word) and gave me God-awful headaches. Solar Bats makes 2 pair (1 grey and 1 brown) sold at Wal-Mart with FLW logo that are only $14. Have not had any of the problems as above with them. IMHO hard to beat for the money (pretty decent frames too)... As Ever, Skillet
  9. Most of the water I fish is a lot skinnier than what Catt is talking about. You can actually see the line get slack when it hits bottom. Different than when it gets slack and moves sideways ! What I wanted to add is when I go to creature type, lizard or jig combo, I slow down even more. Written this before but I have 3 gears: slow, even slower and durn near stopped. Also with these baits I tend to drag more than hop. After you get started you'll find which you like better ... As Ever, Skillet
  10. Black, black and blue, brown, brown and orange and green pumkin. Strike King 3X chunks to match... As Ever, Skillet
  11. Never be sorry! You can apologize, but not for being new or asking a question. That's probably one of the reasons we all joined in the first place. WELCOME to the Forum! As Ever, Skillet
  12. Palomar except on somethin where I have a whole handful of treble hooks and then it's the Trilene. When I started using the Trilene knot, I think I read where you were only supposed to go around only 4 times. Anymore and the heat build-up (on mono), because of the extra turns, would weaken the knot... As Ever, Skillet
  13. I was amazed when I got my first decent reel! You probably can't say it any better than Redlinerobert did... As Ever, Skillet
  14. WELCOME to the Forum! Don't even think twice about it. Change it! As Ever, Skillet
  15. 96% Southern (FERGIT HELL!) If anything, I would have expected the score to be higher towards the South ;D "Is Gen. Lee your Father?" Should be Daddy!! As Ever, Skillet
  16. Hope this is what you're asking. I'm not really sold on the theory of having each bait in every color of the rainbow. If I have a bait in more than 1 color, it is 2, one light and one dark... As Ever, Skillet
  17. Zoom Baby and Brush Hogs were the first creatures I tried. They worked so well, I haven't really given anything a chance... As Ever, Skillet
  18. I was really impressed with him for the same reasons GMAN. He seems to treat everyone the same GREAT... As Ever, Skillet
  19. I'll add another "sorry" with RLR, my first time too. Being from south of the Mason Dixon Line, the only thing we have that might come close to something like that is an alligator gar. If I'm not mistaken they are pretty much always caught in nets. When I was a little kid fishing with my Father, they had one stuffed on the wall at the bait shop we always stopped at. It was at least half again as big as me. Looking at those pics. made me realize why there is such a shortage of swimming instructors up in your neck of the woods ;D As Ever, Skillet
  20. Sorry about your grandpa. Thank goodness for the early detection. Be sure to tell him that he has a whole durned Forum thinking of and pulling for him... As Ever, Skillet
  21. I have the Citica 200D (great reel) and always used what I call "smaller" jigs, 1/4 and once in a great while 5/16. IMHO you can only loosen brakes to a certain point (for a small bait) and then no matter how well trained your thumb is their gonna happen. I went up to 3/8 and it made all the difference in the world. If you are using too small weight, maybe that's your problem...Hope this helps! As Ever, Skillet

zigzag, BTW love the handle and WELCOME to the Forum! Thanks for the offer, that's really descent of you. I'll try and take you up on that soon... As Ever, Skillet
  23. Don't want to hear no durned giggling in the background ;D! I have been fishing the same name brand (Stren 8 and 12 lb.) mono for so many years, I feel like I know how it is going to act in almost any given situation... As Ever, Skillet
  24. I have my reel on the rod and put the line thru the guide on the reel and use about 1/2 the tape that comes holding the line and tape it to the spool. Hold tension on the line about 1/2 way to first guide and wind with other hand. If it ever comes out uneven on the spool, it always corrects itself after the first cast or so... As Ever, Skillet
  25. We went thru the Natural Childbirth class for my daughter. Went to all the classes, saw the film, talked to all the other folks in the class, read all the books, practiced the breathing and talked to nurses and Dr.s . Just knew we had everything down pat ;D! You would have to know what a sweet even tempered person my wife is (she puts up with me) to really appreciate what a foul-mouthed projectile vomiting DEMON screaming for drugs she turned into about 1/2 way thru Labor. I want to thank whichever gods watch over expectant fathers for her having a hold of my hand and not another part of my anatomy. She almost pulled it loose at the shoulder !! For all her and I (mostly her) went thru we have one of the sweetest and prettiest daughters in the world... As far as suggestions go:....only let her hold something you don't mind losing and take a tape recorder so you can use the tape as blackmail whenever you might need it... As Ever Skillet BTW CONGRATULATIONS
