  1. CONGRATULATIONS!!! Best thing you will ever do. I've got two boys (men now) and five step daughter's (adult). I can't begin to tell you how much I Love them. You now have a new fishing buddy! All of mine love to fish.
  2. I secure anything with trebles, buzzbaits, spinnerbaits and bladed jigs when I'm done with them. Sometimes I just reel soft plastics up really close to the top, sometimes I secure them. That's while running the outboard. If on the t/m, I always have a follow up bait dangling, ready for use just in case.
  3. I bought into the visibility thing at one time. A few years back, I just got tired of deciding on what type of line to use on which rod and reel set up. Went back to straight mono on everything. I just play with the line strength for different presentations. Still seem to catch just as many bass as ever. I'll be straight mono from here on out. But, as always, to each his own.
  4. I like it here, check in two or three times a day, couple of other forums dealing with my other hobbies too. I will say that I too get a little burned out, but it's more how my mind operates not this site or the others I visit daily.
  5. I just replace the hooks.

When I was at the Sheriff's Dept, we lived by the saying, "If you're early, you're on time. If you're on time, you're late." Roll call started on time the door was closed. No one interrupted roll call.
  7. I had the same problem. After messaging Glenn, I cleared my cache and restarted my browser. Still didn't work. I removed the shortcut and downloaded the BR app, works like a charm now.
  8. There are some really good people here.
  9. 2500 for me. Our old Shimano Rep taught me that a 2500 sized Shimano is a 3000 spool on a 2000 frame.

My pop's was a very old school, WW2 veteran. Born in 1918, into a coal mining and farming family. He believed in hard work and discipline. He supported his family and provided everything we needed, not always what we wanted. I don't remember him ever telling me or my sister's that he loved us or showed any physical love (hugs, kisses) but he he showed it every day in other ways. That's probably the only thing I would change. Due to that, I tell my kid's that I love them, hug and kiss their cheeks as often as possible. He taught me a lot about construction, plumbing, electric and how to work on old cars/trucks. Taught me to avoid debt at all costs. Thanks to him, I have a work ethic second to none, didn't have a choice. U. S. Army basic training wasn't anything compared to working for my pop's. He introduced me to fishing and stock car racing, two things that I have loved my entire life. He didn't enjoy watching me when I was racing, made him nervous. My mom and pop went to live with our Lord and Savior years ago. I miss them both terribly, everyday. I'll see them again one day.
  11. I bought a Vortex 3000 size spinning reel when GM was liquidating their merchandise, think I it was $15.00. Got it as an emergency spare. Seemed like a nice reel although I never used it. I think I ended up giving it away. I don't think that you got hurt at all.
  12. I use the rod covers that BPS sells, reel covers and lure wraps too. Don't have a clue who makes them for BPS. I like the looks of those.
  13. @ol'crickety, If you don't already have one, get a generator at least big enough to run your fridge, freezer and a few lamps. If you were down south with us I'd add air conditioner too. After being w/o power for three days this spring, we're going to get a generac.
  14. @TNcreekfishing, I've waded the Little River some. Great river!
  15. Same, I don't want on Glenn's watch list.
  16. @TNcreekfishing, I'm from the Powell area of Knox County. Live is AR since 2019. AR's not bad at all, but I sure miss home/east TN.
  17. @slonezp, That too brother, that too. When I read that today of all days, I just shook my head in disbelief.
  18. I thank you and @AlabamaSpothunter for posting the videos. I don't like watching them, but I do just to remind myself of what those "people" did to us then and, with our extremely porous borders, could easily do again. Probably worse. I was on duty that day, I remember exactly where is was and what I was doing when it all went down. I remember how helpless I felt, like something should immediately be done but there was nothing I could do except follow the commands of my superior's. Like I said in my original post, I'll never forget and I will never, ever forgive.
  19. Today is, and will always be a very sad day for me. A day of remembering the terrorist attacks and the many, many good lives that have been lost fighting back. ?? NEVER FORGIVE, NEVER FORGET ??
  20. I have three BPS ultra lite rods that I used when wading. A 4'6" Micro Lite series, a 5'6" Bionic Blade and a 5'6" Carbonlite. Highly recommend any of them. I don't use any of them anymore as my wading opportunities are pretty much non existent now. Like my friend @Eric 26, I've got two of the Panfish Elites (6'2") but mine are light action. Very nice rods. Also have a Denali Pryme series light action rod 6'6") that I like a lot. The Denali has a skeletonized reel seat that I really like. I do like buying BPS stuff as all of their products carry a minimum of a one year warranty with zero hassle.
  21. In my opinion, the more knots you have (of any type), the more opportunity for knot failure. I'll stick with straight mono, retying when needed. But as always, to each his own.
  22. @TnRiver46 and other TN Vol fans, Our Vols fell from #9 to #11 after winning 30 to 13. I guess getting off to a slow start against Austin Peay counted against them.
  23. Good luck buddy, sounds like you've really had a rough go of it this summer. I don't know what else to say other than I'll be praying for you.
