  1. Depending on the store manager, had you politely brought it to his/her attention you most likely would have been given a $25.00 G/C and an apology.
  2. Amen, me either. As I've said numerous times, to each his own. I'm a diehard Shimano spinning reel guy, always have been. I also love BPS Platinum baitcaster's, Platinum and Crankin' Stick casting rods and Patriot spinning rods. They all have served me well for years. That said, I recently purchased a Denali Pryme light action panfish rod. While looking for a reel, a friend here at BR, @Eric 26recommended a Piscifun Carbon X reel. The price was right so I ordered one. I've only used it a couple of times at this point, but I like it. As for longevity the jury is obviously still out. Will I be swapping out all of my Shimano spinning reels with Piscifun reels, probably not but they're not terrible spinning reels either. Again, to each his own.
  3. I agree, cheating is lame. I hope the cheaters get their tails handed to them, but we are talking about mlf
  4. According to the podcast it happened three or more times, same angler.
  5. Give the latest Luke Dunkin's Low Budget Live podcast a listen for full details and to hear the letter read that Cathy Fennel sent to everyone that received a check. Four of the top 10 are under investigation for cheating. I made a longer post on the Cayuga thread under tournament talk.
  6. Anyone else hear Luke Dunkin's Low Budget Live podcast yesterday? Four of the top 10 angler's are under investigation by mlf for cheating. One who has already been mentioned in this thread is in trouble for catching fish outside the mouth, unhooking the fish out of the cameras view. Other's for catching the same fish twice. There's a rule stating that during a bedding fish tournament, the same fish can't be caught twice. Kathy Fennel has sent out letters to everyone that received a check informing them that the standings may change. Luke reads the letter on the podcast. It's not an especially long podcast if you haven't listened.
  7. Well, it was fun while it lasted. Go SEC!
  8. I second this! Where I'm from, we all had a Crawdad or the Pelican version laying around for super shallow places that even jet rigs couldn't get to. I kind of wish that I hadn't sold my old Crawdad.
  9. Me too, their chicken, bacon and habanero sandwich is killer! I like their pizza to as long as it's hot and fresh. I'm one of those that lives "out in the sticks". Our closet Domino's is over 40 miles away. We have two smaller chain pizza joints in town, Johnny's and Mazzio's. They both suck.
  10. Do what you do. If the guy thinks he's right and is confident in his technique, so be it. Even if he's wrong. Like other's have said, I've caught numerous bass on the same soft plastic. I use them until they can't be used anymore.
  11. Go Vols!
  12. This has probably been asked in the past, but I don't remember ever reading anything concerning it. What do the letters that follow the name of Shimano reels indicate? Like on a Stradic FX, FG, FI, etc? They seem to be on every Shimano spinning reel model. When I worked at BPS, I asked their sales rep. He flat out said "I'm not sure, call customer service." All I ever got from them was "It stands for the manufacturing date." That doesn't make sense to me as the letters never change. Anyone have the answer?
  13. Great looking rig, congratulations!
  14. I've heard of spraying WD-40 on arthritic joints, lot of old folks swear by it. Never heard of using it as a line conditioner. I change my line out pretty regularly so I've never used any line conditioner.
  15. My ex wife
  16. My late ex father in law swore by those canvas loader style slip in (he called them boat shoes) from Walmart. Said that they were very comfortable to him too.
  17. I use BPS Excel mono on everything with zero issues at all. That said, I've had my spool's for years. Keep them stored my closet in the house (climate control and dark). When I bought mine, Pure Fishing (parent company of Trilene/ Stren) made all of BPS mono lines. They may still, as I no longer work there I don't know.
  18. I have a very high arch, in the summer, I wear my Chaco's sandals. They have a good arch. I purchased two pair of the Grunden's Seaknit fishing shoes. If you need an arch, you'll need arch supports. They're also kind of heavy. May work for some, but I can't recommend them. I tried all the major sneaker brands, Brooks running shoes work better for me.
  19. Good question. They must like them in New York state and the north east. They seem to go to Champlain or the St Lawrence every year.
  20. Like other's, I love the tough, grinder tournaments. I think that it was Patrick Walters, on Luke Dunkin's latest Low Budget Live podcast that said that "Anyone that catches 6 (or 7?) pounds a day will cash a check." I hope that the B.A.S.S. Elite series continues to go to the Sabine. Orange, TX seems to really roll out the welcome mat for them.
  21. It wasn't my boat, I was a co-angler. I've been 80 in a Norris Craft. Way to fast for me. My buddy had a Bullet that easily ran in the 70's. Again, way to fast for me on the water
  22. Although I sold/ gave away locally, I did the same thing.
  23. I usually wear a pair of Chaco sandals with a high arch. I bought a couple of pairs of Grunden's Sea Knit fishing shoes over the winter. I'll be honest and say while comfortable, they aren't wearing very well. I doubt that I'll be replacing them.
  24. Me too! My panfish rods are all in socks, reels protected by covers.
