  1. I'll have to look up that video, thank you @casts_by_fly
  2. Again, this was in the 80's through the mid 90's when I sold my house. My neighbor's memo billed Bass Cat's were all his boats. He owned them and had to register them in TN. It might have differed between manufacturer's, his boats were sold to him at cost, same with his outboards (he was on Mercury's team). He just had a year to either sell it and then pay it off, or keep it and pay it off. I don't know what the deal is, it just caught my eye that the boats mentioned didn't have registration numbers. Maybe it has to do with where the angler lives?
  3. Back in the 80's my next door neighbor fished whatever B.A.S.S. Opens were called back then. He was on Bass Cat's regional team with a memo billed boat. It still had to be registered and has TN numbers on all his boats. Things may have changed since then I guess.
  4. Moderators, I wasn't sure where to post this. Move it if need be. I've noticed in pictures of several Elite rigs that there were no visible registration numbers? It may be the same for the mlf boats that actually belong to their pros, I haven't looked. In my new B.A.S.S. Times, there's a picture of Joey Cifuentes boat on the cover and in an article about his Elite win. No registration numbers, same for Logan Latuso, Derek Hudnall and Ike's boat on the cover of Bassmaster magazine. Does anyone know why?
  5. Rest in Peace Fenway. She'll be waiting on you and the misses @A-Jay
  6. No real reason not to. Like @WRB asked, what size line would you be using? My suggestion would be if you're planning on using a heavier line, look to braided line for a spinning reel.

I enjoyed seeing Mark Menendez and Steve Kennedy in the top ten.
  8. I don't know about the new one's, but the old speed shad were great.
  9. I grew up fishing spinning reels with a left hand retrieve, still do it. I learned how to use baitcaster's that were right hand retrieve, so all of my b/C's are right hand retrieve. Anything else doesn't feel natural to me.....go figure.
  10. He thought that he had purchased his license online. The purchase never went through, he never received a confirmation of any type. Honest mistake, I hate it for the guy. According to Luke Dunkin's Low Budget Live, Barron is a hammer.
  11. Mine is a red casting spoon with white polka dots. It might have been a daredevil brand, but I'm not sure. Around 1970, when I was 11, my dad's work took us the the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for three years. He bought me a new rod and reel, plus the spoon and some other stuff. Anyway, caught my first smallies on it fishing riprap beside a bridge. I also caught a 36" Northern Pike on it the same day. Remember it like it was yesterday. Good times!
  12. I have a fairly short, heavy duty extension cord only for my charger. I want to say it's around 15', no more than 20'. I leave my charger plugged in.
  13. @MN Fisher, Thank you Ken.
  14. Great work Ken! Absolutely amazing what you've accomplished with this rig. I'm really happy for you. When possible, could you post a pic of the front of your jackplate, where the O/B attaches? Steve
  15. Rural King in Halls Crossroads used to sell carpenter bee traps. My oldest son still lives in Knoxville. Like you, he had a carpenter bee problem. I suggested the bee trap and they do work.
  16. They say that there are gators in a couple of the small lakes that I frequent. I've never seen any, but I'm not really concerned, but I do try to keep an eye out for them. My aluminum boat is 16' X 50".
  17. Those are very nice reels. When I worked for BPS, we rarely had anyone return a JM Signature Series reel. With proper maintenance, you'll be enjoying that reel for years to come.
  18. The Johnny Morris Signature Series spinning reels (black and gold) are also made by Diawa.
  19. Hang in there @Catt! I'm with you, I have arthritis in my hips and lower spine. Back pain is rough. I'm praying for you.
  20. That's great Ken! I smoke the occasional cigar, mainly sitting on the patio with some good scotch. Even that's getting less and less My poor momma smoked all of her adult life She quit at around 66/67 years of age. All the hassle of quitting, passed away at 69 from bone cancer in her spine that went to her brain.
  21. I've got a fairly inexpensive spare tire mount from Harbor Freight, it's lasted for years on different trailers. Walmart sells one just like it for a few bucks more. Keep the spare locked onto the mount but I realize that if someone wants the spare, it's theirs. Also have a four way that fits my truck wheels and the trailer tires.
  22. I'm 63 and all the kids think I'm ancient. I guess me and @MN Fisher are still kinda young around here! We're pretty much the same age, I got him by a month or so. My first "real" job was a gas station attendant in the mid 70's. I'm a car junkie so it was a great gig for me. I don't remember the price of gas, but cigarettes were 75 cents a pack.
  23. I have two Garmin Striker 7" units on my boat. One at the T/M, the other is midship (my boat has a tiller O/B). They're basically really nice temp gauges for me. I rarely look at them.
  24. I absolutely do my best not to judge others, lest no one judge me. Broke is broke, be it from low/no income, or being over extended with debt. I hate the thought of a person, especially children, being hungry. My problem starts when people that call themselves "parents" would rather buy drugs than food for their family. But, by the Grace of God I don't have an addictive personality and have never walked in their shoes. I thank each and every one of you that feed the hungry.
  25. I was talking about in price and yes, they were the next step up from the Pro Qualifier reels. At that time, Pro Qualifier baitcasting reels were selling for $79.99. The Extreme baitcasting reels sold for $99.99. The next step down from Pro Qualifier baitcasting reels was the Bionic series.
