  1. I've been fishing for years but have never tried big worms, 10+. What size hook do you use? Ewg, straight worm or offset round bend? Thank you
  2. A friend and I unwound line from a blue heron one time. He pulled the hook out of the birds breast. That bird was not happy about us being that close, but after a bit it either tired out or realized that we were helping it. Just sort of chilled out, we did our thing and left.
  3. Brother, if given the opportunity to make it up that way from south AR (might as well be LA), I'll bring some padding!
  4. I have three on my bucket list. 1. Smallie fishing in MN. Preferably with MN Fisher in his hot rod canoe! 2. Do one of those seven day "fly in, float out" trips in the boundary waters. I have a close friend that has done it twice. He said that he "caught so many smallies and walleye that he was sick of it by the end of the week." I replied, No way! 3. Go smallie fishing up in northern New York state.
  5. I had a Force by Mercury 75 on my first bass boat, 1997 16' Nitro. It ran and performed perfectly, as did the boat. The only reason that I sold it was we outgrew the boat. My apologies, seems that I replied to this twice.
  6. My dad got me hooked on fishing when I was six and I mainly bluegill fished off and on ever since. Fast forward to 28, I had just sold my race car, trailer, etc and was bored. My next door neighbor fished regional bass tournaments and guided. The first time Charlie took me, I caught one on a buzzbait and I've been hooked ever since! I do still enjoy chasing bluegill from time to time.
  7. I occasionally smoke a good quality cigar (with The Macallan scotch) or my pipe. It's getting rarer and rarer however.
  8. RIP Dusty Hill! I saw them twice in Knoxville, TN. The "Bringing Texas to the People" tour, with live animals on stage and the "Eliminator" your. Both great shows.
  9. I know that this is slightly off topic, but it's already been breeched. First, college football players (not just football) have been getting paid, to a point, for a long time. What is a scholarship? If an athlete is good enough, they are offered full scholarships, partial scholarships, etc to play football, basketball, baseball, etc. That's a form of compensation. In my opinion, if a player accepts money or any other compensation for playing a sport, any scholarships should be recinded/ forfeited. If an athlete is being otherwise compensated, they don't need a scholarship.
  10. Congratulations @FishinBuck07!
  11. I've never used the VMC bladed trebles, but I did read an article on adding small willow leaf blades or dressed trebles to the rear treble of Rattle Traps. This was before Red Eye Shad's, doggone I'm old. I tried both hacks and had pretty good results.
  12. Thanks Tom. I swear, you are like E. F. Hutton to me. You make one of these informative posts or replies and I drop everything to read and learn!
  13. Here in southern Arkansas, it's hotter than h e double toothpicks.
  14. RIP Zeke. @DaubsNU1 bless you and your family. I'm sure that Zeke knew that his family loved him.
  15. I'm with you. My truck and my wife's Challenger are paid for and in excellent condition. No way I'm buying a new vehicle, or an overpriced used vehicle any time soon. Good Lord willing. I hate debt.
  16. Call me old fashion, but I think that teams that play in the Southeastern Conference should be in the........... Southeast. Not that it mattered, but I felt that way when Missouri and Texas A&M joined the SEC. Go Vols!
  17. The Chevrolet/ GMC/ Buick dealership in my town had three, yes three new vehicles on their lot. Three, all small Buick SUV's. Drove buy the Ford/ Dodge dealership in the next town over. No new Ford's, none. One Jeep Wrangler, one Ram pick up. This is nuts!
  18. Discounts vary, but they're really good. Yes, all kinds of free stuff. Mainly hats, stickers, key chains, etc.
  19. I'm with TNRiver 46. The Knoxville Classic was great. He's right, bring a pocket full of cash!
  20. Looks like a pretty good series of tournaments to me. I'm glad they are heading back to Lake Oahe, SD.
  21. I'm not sure about the rest of the United States, but used boats seem to be selling at premium prices where I live. At least since covid, folks seem to be asking premium prices. It's almost like used cars and trucks.
  22. Thanks for all of the suggestions! Due to the pandemic, at least that's what some retailers blamed it on, several models of Lowrance and Humminbird are pretty much nonexistent. I ended up purchasing a Garmin Striker 7 cv. It was a little over my price point, but BPS had it in stock and I had around $250.00 in saved gift cards. The learning curve now begins.
  23. I've had two Colonoscopies, it was no big deal at all. I did find that the homework (prep) was way worse than the test. ?
  24. RIP Teddy. Sorry for your loss AJ.
