  1. Also, do not discount the rattle. Not all jerkbaits sound the same.
  2. I was contemplating going and paying full ticket price, but, given your reaction, I will wait for it to come out on Netflix. I can buy a Vision 110 for what it cost for a movie and soda.
  3. This is the version that I am leaning towards for precisely this reason. I do not have any jerkbaits that go this deep and the Vision Oneten +2 seems to be special in how deep it goes while maintaining good action. While I fish deep, manmade reservoirs, my hesitation is that I am unsure if I need one that goes that deep. Typically speaking, jerkbaits draw them up form deeper water.
  4. The Juniors have been out a good while now. How do people feel about them versus the 1/2 original? I have some BPS gift cards from Christmas already, and they burning a hole in my pocket. I am going to pick up a couple of one or the other. Any input would be appreciated.
  5. I have discovered that some of those holes in some spools have sharp edges. I discovered this last winter when I decided I was going to experiment with braid backing. Since then, I have just tied on a foot or so of mono or fluoro with an alberto knot and tied the mono/fluoro to the spool. Is this all necessary? I am starting to believe it is overkill. About a month after deciding to try braid backing, I watched a video by Ott Defoe. He literally uses about an inch of masking tape and and no knot to attach his braid to his reel.
  6. I have a 71 MGL and use it specifically for jerkbaits including the 1/2 oz. variety. I love it. Casting is great as is the palming. Perhaps you should consider a BFS for what you are using you 70 MGL for now. I have no experience with BFS reels, but they seem to be all the rage.
  7. Oh my. I just noticed the font and the all caps "CURADO". I don't like reels that yell at me.
  8. It only took m a couple of trips to get accustom to it. By the end of the year, it became perfectly natural. Now, I use both left and right handed baitcasters. I mainly crank with right handed baitcasters.
  9. Perhaps you could pull the whole outfit together with the right color braid?
  10. After getting a dedicated punch rod and a big swimbait rod, I think I have all the bases covered. For me, it is time to devote some effort into finding out what I like to do most as a bass fisherman. Perhaps after that, I might get back in the market to upgrade something.
  11. The Jimmy Houston knot is a double Pitzen knot or a double Pitzen knot is a Jimmy Houston knot. I do not know where it originated.
  12. iRod Genesis III Punch Rod. I have heard that the right punch rod makes all the difference in terms of how enjoyable the technique is. I spent a fair amount of time this past year punching. I am hoping that the new equipment, having a longer handle and bigger pendulum, will make it less tiring.
  13. Braid: Palomar knot Mono/Copoly/Flourocarbon: San Diego Jam knot Leader: FG knot Occasionally, I will mix in a Trilene, Uni, Fishing Fool, Orvis, or Improved Clinch knot just for fun.
  14. Kids really are not a Covid concern. He will be fine. Because this is the case, his chances of survival are like 99.9999999%. The best thing you can do is to make sure he does not freak out over stuff he might have heard.
  15. I had no idea it was that "Bub". Being local to my area, I have heard about him for years.
  16. Happy feasting everyone. We are doing prime rib this year for a change. I am so looking forward to rubbing my stuffed belly later.
  17. Any opinions on this rod or and suggestions on an alternative? I am looking for a dedicated punch rod in this price range for next year. With the sales going on, I thought I should look to buy something now.
  18. The most important thing I have learned on BR is that Daiwa is better than Shimano and Lews.
  19. Since we are talking about colors of braid, is there consensus about which color is most visible? Of all the colors, hi-vis yellow seems to be the most visible that I have tried. However, I have yet to try pink, orange, chartreuse (unless neon lime counts), or white.
  20. I really liked his video breaking down the last day where he came up 3 oz. short and the decisions he made to "leave them biting".
  21. Lots of good suggestions given out. The one that is most overlooked in my opinion is the Rozante 77SP. That lure is special in the way that it casts so well for its size while having great action.
  22. What exactly is everyone throwing them on? I tried using an 6'6 ML spinning rod with a 2500 size reel and felt like I was only throwing F9 about 20' or so. Is that all I should expect to cast it? Because of cutability, I probably haven't tied one on since getting a boat.
  23. Texas Rig Creature Bait Jig Either a Ned, Shakyhead, Wacky, 3" Paddle Tail, or Neko on the spinning rod. Everything else is decided the night before going out.
  24. Thanks Glenn. I am excited to trying this lure.
