  1. I’m about 6’7 and I know the “yoga moves” act all too well when I try to stand up out of the chair on my old town. The higher chair, better stability, and lots of customization for electronics and rigging have me leaning toward the Titan X.
  2. Going to purchase my first FFs unit and I’m wondering what amp hour lithium battery would be sufficient to run a garmin 93Sv and lvs34 for about 8 hours of use. This will be going on a kayak set up, so the less weight the better. This will be the only piece of electronics connected to the battery.
  3. Anyone own the Native Titan X 10.5 or 12.5? The 12.5 seems more popular, but I am leaning towards the 10.5 due to limited storage space and I’ll be loading it in the bed of my truck. Any likes/dislikes?
  4. Any jighead with a 90 degree line tie and a loop knot should do the trick.
  5. My local dick’s sporting goods had some megabass vision 110s in the buy 5 get 5 free deal. Only color they had was northern secret though. There were also some rigged magdrafts included but none of the popular Shad colors.
  6. If you’re set on an Expride, you may want to look at the 7’2 medium casting model. The 7’2 MH B is going to a run a bit stiff, which is why I suggested it for jigs in the 3/8-1/2 oz range. I have both rods, but I personally throw my chatterbaits on the 7’2 MH glass rod and spinnerbaits on the 7’2 medium.
  7. Which baits are you wanting to throw with it?
  8. Sorry can’t speak on the megabass rod but the Expride 7’2 MH is closer to a jig rod than a multipurpose rod in the B lineup. This same rod in the A lineup was much more versatile. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still an awesome rod if you want slightly more power. Just my two cents.
  9. Most of my rods are on the moderate side of fast. If you’ve ever used G Loomis rods before, I would compare them to the “mag bass” taper in that they are labeled as fast but are probably closer to moderate fast than they are to extra fast. I mostly fish fluorocarbon, but I do like braid for topwaters and for swim jigs. This set up has considerably increased my landing percentage. Fish what you are comfortable with and don’t forget you can always compensate a bit with the line type (braid or fluoro) and also the line diameter (strength).
  10. Yep, just ask some of the elite series guys throwing them on FFS last year. Too far?? 😅
  11. Yes, it matters. Teasers go on top. Bass will usually come in from the sides or below and attack.
  12. The best fishermen in my area who consistently win tournaments are the ones putting in the most time on the water. They don’t necessarily have the latest and greatest equipment on their boat/kayak, but they are in tune with the current status of the lake and location of fish because they fish A LOT. Can upgraded equipment make them more efficient? Yes absolutely. But they’re winning because they don’t have to show up blind the day of the tournament to find fish. Unfortunately with busy work/personal lives this isn’t always possible for everyone!
  13. In the north, but fishing seems to get tougher when water temps are 36-38. My favorite zone is 40-45.
  14. Have had a lot of success on a vision 110, stunna, and rogue. Those are pretty much the only three I throw.
  15. I did see that video, looks like a good stick too. I’m just an Expride snob 😁
  16. Yes that’s what I want to use it for. Mostly 1/8-1/4 range with 4” baits so I assume I’d want the medium.
  17. Anyone use the new Expride solid tip rods yet? Would like to purchase one but unsure if I should get the medium or medium heavy. I’m leaning towards the medium…
  18. Berkley also has a $25 credit when you spend $100 or more but I can’t seem to get it to show when items are in my cart. I assume you have to submit a $100 order first then they email you a code… anyone have any luck with this?
  19. Have you had any of the wires break on you? The reviews online that I’ve seen said they have good action but the wire doesn’t hold up.
  20. Thanks all for the thoughts! After some thought I am going to hold off on livescope. I don’t currently have a trailer for my yak and store it outside so I feel that setting up and tearing down would become a bit more of a time commitment than I want to work with right now. I like being able to throw it in the back of my pick up and be on the water in about 2-3 mins with my helix setup. I definitely envy your set ups though! Maybe some day…
  21. With all the holiday deals floating around, I’ve been kicking around the idea of buying garmin livescope for my old town 106 pdl. The question is… is it a hassle to set up and transport the extra mounts, poles, etc.? Does it get in the way while you’re fishing? One of my favorite features of kayak fishing is the simplicity it brings, and I am worried that if I add more gear it will just become more work and I may as well purchase a boat at that point. That being said, I’ve been dipping my feet in the kayak tournament scene with some success and I think this could help me out more. what are your thoughts?
  22. Oh I’d do anything for another code this year! Especially with all the new offerings from Berkley. I’d be broke.
  23. Anyone fish the berkley spinnerbaits? Not really interested in the $10 full price tag, but may try a few since they can be found for around $6 right now.
  24. I’m still using my curado Is to this day and mine are around the same age as those and I’ve fished them hard.
  25. Can’t go wrong with Sunline shooter, sniper, or seaguar abrazx.
