  4. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  5. George Welcome regularly provides us with Stick Marsh/ Farm13 fishing reports. His website will give you some ideas on what to bring and what to expect. If I were going, I would be fishing with George. http://www.imaginationbassin.com/ 8-)
  6. NO. Our guys will help you and answer your questions. Sometimes they offer gear to members, but asking twice for a handout doesn't cut it. On the other-hand, I'm a soft touch. Send me a PM and I will send you some stuff, but don't ask again. Tomorrow this thread will be deleted and don't post it again. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  7. 3/4 oz or 1 oz Ledgebuster Single Willow Blade Spinnerbait 8-)
  8. Geez...It just seems entertaining to me! Are you ready to rumble? Polls are released and the green flag drops. It's all just part of the drama and allure of college sports! BTW: http://www.mmbolding.com/bowls/Music_Missouri_Fight_Song.htm ;D ;D
  9. Well, if your are not an engineer or seasoned rod maker, your best bet might be relying on the reputation of the manufacturer. Otherwise, considerations would be: design, engineering and craftsmanship; strength and sensitivity of the blank; balance; power & action rating; components including guides, reel seat and handle; and of course, price! For me aesthetics are important, too. Bling-bling is not my deal. 8-)
  10. You dun goooood! I suggest #12 Yo-Zuri Hybrid (.010" diameter, 19.5 lb test). 8-)
  11. We have several members who are law enforcement officers, when they see this thread they should have a few professional comments and suggestions. 8-)
  12. Welcome aboard! Heat is not good for line, but has very little or no effect on your rod & reel unless it's extreme (like in your trunk). I would just suggest changing your line once a month or so. Better yet, remove your reels and store them inside. One other point, always loosen your drag after fishing. Storing reels with the drag on can compress the brake pads over time. 8-)
  13. And risk turning "self defense" into felony homicide? Talk about a "life changing event". Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me. :-X
  14. flechero, Excellent points! If you not a "shooter", a revolver is DEFINITELY the better option. Automatics need to be used occasionally and PROPERLY cleaned. The care and maintenance of a revolver is much less complicated. 8-)
  15. Yes, and acquiring a collection of high dollar reels tends to extend the life of the 33 indefinitely. In twenty years the Zebco will still look brand new! :
  16. I would get a few more Lake Fork Tackle spoons, "just in case" you don't like the other brands, but you ought to try a few different spoons to test them out for yourself.
  17. Bored guys? Best feature, the 33 comes already spooled with free line!
  18. Our Flea Market often has great deals on rods and reels. 8-)
  19. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  20. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  21. Here ya go: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1141187546 Bottom line: A 6 1/2' or 7' Medium Power/ Fast Action spinning or baitcasting rod will cover nearly all your fishing needs. That's where I suggest you start. The best value is about a $150 combination from one of the big retailers. Focus on the reel and whatever rod they match up with it. Shimano Symetre for spinning, Citica for baitcasting. NEVER pay retail, these combinations are often on sale. Here is an example: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_102965_100003000_100000000_100003000_100-3-0 8-)
  22. I recently purchased the new Curado 200E7. This reel compares favorably with other higher priced Shimano models. I think this is a great reel at a very good price. 8-)
  23. Both #10 and #12 Hybrid has breaking strength within the rod rating. #12 is 19.5 lb breaking strength: http://015d0c6.netsolhost.com/Products/ProdLine/HybridLineChart.htm 8-)
  24. I bought this Kimber .45 for my son. Very effective, easily concealed and fun to shoot: http://www.kimberamerica.com/pistols/ultracarry/ 8-)
