  1. Yep, forget about the calendar. Here in the Mid South our early spring flowers popped yesterday and 100% more have bloomed today. We will be in full bloom by Monday! ;D ;D ;D ;D
  2. Hmm... I don't post comments about tournament guys anymore... :
  3. That's a GREAT deal, but the handle is on the wrong side! :
  4. I bought the original, first run, directly from Ray Scott...
  5. Your picture album speaks for itself...Awesome! 8-)
  6. That's the best statement anyone has made and something to live by. However, for "collectors" that is not always the case. As a specific example, I don't think anyone "needs" more than a Stradic 2500FI for a spinning reel, but the Stella is really nice! Value? Not a chance. 8-)
  7. Welcome back! 8-)

Welcome aboard! You will enjoy our "Tacklemaking" section. 8-)
  9. Keep it simple. Get her a spinning rig and several XCalibur Xr50 or maybe plain ole Rat-L-Traps. After she catches a few bass, you will have her turned around and can work on some other techniques, lures and presentations. 8-)
  10. Kentucky Lake is the last reservoir on the Tennessee River. Barkley Lake is the last reservoir on the Cumberland River. Neither are dependent on snow melt in northern states. Regional rainfall is what's important. The lakes will most likely be full and we hope not flooding. 8-)
  11. It's not complicated. I fished a lot of brands over the years, starting with Zebco and Johnson spincasters and fiberglass rods. My first big upgrade was to a two piece Lightning Rod and low end Shimano spinning reel which at the time, I found challenging. In 1997 I moved to Tennessee and made some friends with a couple of "real bass fishermen". We all went to Hooter's one Friday for lunch and the local mom & pop tackle store was next door, Buck & Bass. I basically gave my boys a blank check and said, "Fix me up!" All Star was their choice, one spinning rod, one baitcaster. Shimano Symetre, Abu Garcia Baitcaster, Trilene XL and XT, a hard tacklebox, $800 worth of lures, soft plastics and gear. After that, I started paying attention. Today I'm interested in function and reputation. I prefer G.Loomis, but have more St. Croix rods. I fish Shimano, but was given a STX. I have been around the world with line and have settled on Yo-Zuri. The list goes on, but once I found my groove, I've stuck with it. I won't be buying Abbadabbado, Kissmyassler or vegetable sticks anytime soon. When that happens I'll start driving a Chevy, Ford or Chrysler. There is a old song by Nirvana that plays in my head, "We Won't Get Fooled Again" 8-)

Geez... Sounds like my wife, but I have found a simple solution: Beer, whiskey or wine! 8-)

Hmm... Water him, feed him and re-pot him once a year. Seems simple enough. I guess it took fifteen minutes to decide whether you were "full sun" or "shade". :
  17. Be patient and buy one off our Flea Market. Great deals pop up all the time. 8-)
  18. This is still on page 1, a few lines down: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1234198129 8-)
  19. Yep, gone off in a number of tangents. So, let's end it here. Goodnight Irene -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global moderator
  20. Both have been "full pool" with floodgates open. They are now closed and TVA has brought both lakes down to or near, "winter pool". There is no way of knowing what the situation will be during the outing, it's all about rainfall throughout the region. 8-)
  21. Glenn just closed a thread on bed fishing. Any reference to this "controversy" will be deleted. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  22. Hmm... I used to fish P-Line, but I guess I never read the label. "extra limp", "low memory", "soft and supple" are outright lies. >
