  6. Welcome aboard! I fish the river after it turns north, but mostly below Pickwick Dam. 8-)
  7. Welcome aboard! Get her a Pink Pixy matched up to a St. Croix Legend Elite EC66MF for treble hooks or EC68MXF for soft plastics and light jigs. The rods are on sale: http://www.reedssports.com/Category/main.taf?cat=1754 Here's a review on the Pixy: http://www.tackletour.com/reviewdaiwapixy.html 8-)
  8. The Sixteen-Twenty Knot, also known as a Duncan Knot or Pitzen Knot: http://206.210.94.83/assets/recommended_knots/pdf/fhf_knot_sixteen_twenty.pdf This is a modification of the San Diego Jam and functions much like a noose. This knot will not cut line and cannot slip. Plus, it's really pretty! 8-)
  9. Start with the Rapala X-Rap XR08 (Glass Ghost). There is a video clip in the link showing how this particular lure is fished: http://www.rapala.com/products/luresdetail.cfm?modelName=x-rap&freshorsalt=Fresh 8-)
  10. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  11. I had to read that a couple of times before it got it. ;D Okay, I might reopen this if there is a good reason, otherwise it seems to be getting a little testy and five pages IS enough. If you feel this thread needs to be reopened, send me a PM for consideration. Goodnight Irene. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  12. Not everyone would agree. My only tournament wasn't for money, but I guess it wasn't for fun either. If you are a non-boater you are at the mercy of the boater. My experience was neither enjoyable or acceptable. Once was enough, I never went back. >
  13. Get a haircut! ;D ;D
  14. We have some ice in the area, so wait a couple of days before delivering the new Bass Cat, Bay Cat: http://www.basscat.com/baycat.html I hope you ordered the right color! 8-)
  15. If the Boys "win out" against the Ravens and Eagles, they could be favored to go all the way, but I suspect they will drop both games. 8-)
  16. Regardless of the facts or what actually happened... It's still Burley's fault!
  17. Spend some time in the BassResource.com Library, "Fishing Articles" at the top of the page. We have a huge collection of seasonal tips. As a summary of what you might find, everything works in the spring and summer, but some lures seem to work better than others. I fish soft plastics and jigs year-around. Other than that, my favorite lure class is jerkbaits, but traps may be more productive. For most guys, spring and early summer is all about topwater, buzzbaits and spinnerbaits. Whatever you like will catch a few bass, guaranteed! BTW, The Slug-Go is not really a separate category, but it is in a class of its own! 8-)
  18. Many years ago while in New York City on business, I pulled the classic tourist blunder. Caught a cab on a red light and after a few minutes got dropped off across the intersection. I don't recall the actual bill, but I gave the cabbie a 5 and just laughed at myself! :
  19. Tragic accident for everyone...
  20. Nice fish! 8-)
  21. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  22. This will help get you started: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1189609782 8-)
  23. Good call Thad, I keep this thread in my "Favorites", too. 8-)
  24. Spend some time in the BassResource.com Library, especially "Fishing Articles" at the top of the page. We have extensive resources to help make your fishing easier and more enjoyable. Here is one of many articles on the T-rig: http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/worm-fishing.html 8-)
  25. If this happened at my house I would take the offender aside and politely explain to him that what he was doing was unacceptable. If this happened anywhere and the offender was someone I knew, I would do the same. If I were a guest among strangers as you were, I would have another drink or two, politely thank the host and excuse ourselfs early for another engagement. :
