Way to go. Great post and pics! 8-)

If you could only own one type of reel ?
I fish both, but have a strong preference for one over the other when fishing various techniques. Since I fish more soft plastics than anything else, I voted for spinning tackler, but I would hate to give up my baitcasters! 8-)

Too Hot To Fish
Just a warning guys, sometimes it's dangerous to fish. I won't be back to the Tennessee River for awhile. Yesterday we caught one small striper, less than 8 lbs, in six hours. The actual temperature was a little ove 100, clear skies, high humidity and not a hint of breeze. Tried to fish the Secret Pond this morning with a temperature of "only" 89, but after yesterday, it just was unbearable. When it's not fun, I'm done! Current teperature 102, heat index 115-117, high humidity and no wind. I'm staying inside today.

any suggestions on spinning combo
One of our members picked up a Fenwick Techna AV on Amazon for around $75. If you can find an AVS70MF, that would match up perfectly with a Shimano Stradic 2500FI. Fenwick Techna AV Jul 30th 2008 at 05:47:20* Relative to my Crucial, I didn't appreciate the Techna AV (7MF Casting) until I tried jigging with it. I liked it so much I ordered another (66MHF Casting): http://www.amazon.com/Fenwick-Techna-Triggerstik-Casting-Medium-Heavy/dp/B000DZF... At $78 including shipping, it's a great deal. I figured it was worth risking Amazon. Last time I price-matched at my favorite etailer, but this time they didn't have the same model in stock. Every so often Amazon will have a great deal on Fenwick rods - the deals disappear quickly. I called Fenwick to confirm that Amazon is an authorized dealer. Cheers! 8-)

Fishing plastics. (Senko's and baby brush hawgs)
Warren Buffet and Bill Gates are "best buddies" even though Mr. Buffet has never invested a penny in Microsoft. You and * are tops on my list. Even though I'm not your best customer, I support and promote your soft plastics here and a few other places. Keep up the good work! -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior 8-)

River Question
Focus on structure and current break. Always fish coming across current or with you lure moving downstream. 8-)

wilson or pickwick
No, the water it's really too hot. I fish for striper below Pickwick Dam during the summer. Smallmouth season is October through the middle of March for me. My best month is January. 8-)

HBC-3 Amistad
Well, the Cali boys have had two shots on local water and haven't caught a 10 between them. I guess that must be part of the reason why they moved the event to Texas!

Fishing plastics. (Senko's and baby brush hawgs)
Oh, ROADWARRIOR!!!!!!..............ROADWARRIOR!!!!!!!! (I agree with you one hundred percent ; but........, we'll, let's here R-W say it........) b (sorry, this one is years in the making; i'm not trying to drag you through anything, just keep you 'up-to-date' on the inner workings of RW; the man, the legend............ Hey Brent! I guess I missed this one last night... The 6" Senko is what I fish, but I recommend the 5" versions to people that are struggling or just getting started. Numbers are much better on 5" stickbaits. I fish 6" to discourage the smaller fish, but still catch some. For a year or two I fished 7" baits, but they didn't improve my bigger bass production and more importantly, the 7" Senko is too heavy for the spinning equipment I use to fish soft plastics. So, that's the story. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior 8-)

Would you rather...
10 lbs is when they become "special". Some people catch a lot of big fish all the time. I don't think they care about the picture unless it's with friends or really something. 8-)

Is it ignorance or laziness?
Watch out for the crowd they run with. My kids are there with yours, but they care...a lot. 8-)

treble hook to single hook swap - what kind?
How 'bout a simple solution: If you have two treble hooks, remove one and clip off two of the barbs on the other or just clip off all but a single barb on one hook without removing anything. 8-)

St. Croix LT at Bass Pro
These guys had a huge allocation during the Avid liquidation last year. I'm sure they will be the #1 player this year with the LE rods: http://www.reedssports.com/ 8-)
