What a jerk!
Well, the more I think about this the madder I get. Talk with your husband and decide how far you want to go with this, but a criminal complaint is another option to consider. Regardless of whether the authorities are willing to prosecute, they will interview the perp and put him on notice that you mean business and are someone never to be messed with. The message will come across perfectly clear. >

looking for good quality inexpesive rod
The BPS Extreme (on sale) seems to get pretty good reviews on this forum. However, I would suggest being patient and picking up a "deal" from our Flea Market. You might get twice the rod for half the price! 8-)

I need a new baitcaster
Welcome aboard! Are you looking for a rod, reel or combination? At your pricing point, the BPS rods might fit, but buy them when they are on sale. You may have to spend just a little more money for a baitcasting reel, but there are several to choose from. Some of our guys have found the Shimano Citica for around $70. Unless you find a "deal" in our Flea Market, $55 for a combination isn't going to work. Here is a reel that just popped up in the Flea Market: Quantum Energy PTs "BURNER" Today at 11:01:29* I have a quantum Energy PTs "Burner" reel (7.1:1 gear ration). It looks brand new, very little scratches and I've only used it about 7 or 8 times. It is technically a saltwater reel but I have the freshwater version and it is the EXACT same reel. Same sideplates, same spool, same frame...the only difference is the colors and it has a saltgard layer over the whole reel. It seems to be a little more durable than the freshwater version too. This reel retails for 219.99$ and I am selling it for 65$!!! I would also be willing to trade for something. I just really do not have a need for it I have TOO many reels now and I really need the money to get a new heavy cover rod. I GUARANTEE anyone who buys this will be beyond please. It casts AMAZING, it is super smooth, and it really is an all-around awesome reel. Here is a little more background on this reel and pictures: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/ca... If you are interested in buying I can also take pictures of the actual reel I have. Back to top 8-)

What a jerk!
Well, either the clown gets booted from the club or you need to find another. There is no excuse for that kind of behavior, period! If you decide to pursue the matter, a strongly worded letter to the president of the club from your attorney will get his attention, big time. >

X-Rap Slash Bait, any good?
Welcome aboard! The Rapala X-Rap is a jerkbait, not a crankbait. The proper cadence of the retrieve varies, but it is some combination of jerk-jerk-pause-jerk-pause-jerk-jerk-jerk-pause. It is sometimes important to have a complete pause on slack line. With other jerkbaits the pause is crucial, but with the X-Rap I have found it shines when the bass are very aggressive. In those instances, the pause is not as important. 8-)

Soft Baits with "pockets" for attractant
With MegaStrike or JJ's Magic, you don't need a pocket. One application and you're good-to-go for the life of a soft plastic. JJ's has a very strong odor, MegaStrike is much more user friendly, but both products seem to hold a fish a little longer. 8-)

Picking The Right Hook
Tom Redington wrote a nice piece for us, "Picking The Right Hook" which you can access on the Home Page. Don't miss it, this is a good read that's well worth your time. Thanks Tom! 8-)

baitcaster for senkos and lighter baits
Well Doctor Raul, Although you are technically correct, I think "weightless" is common nomenclature when describing a soft plastic fished without a weight. We generally refer to this as "T-rigged, weightless and weedless", but in fact a lure cannot be "T-rigged" without a weight! 8-)

New Lucky Combo
If your rod developes a rash, try a little baking soda to provide temporary relief. Otherwise, reel replacement may be required. :

Shad spawn - Let's talk about it
If the water temperatures are optimal, shad will have multiple spawns. Two, even three are possible. This may be fine in big water, but can be a problem in ponds. Overpopulation of gizzard shad is why fisheries around the country first introduced striper to many of the manmade reserviors. Once a gizzard reaches maturity, other predator fish shy away as long as there are other alternatives. 8-)

Casting with tubes
T-rigged (weedless), with a bead and unpegged is how I generally fish a tube. 8-)

baitcaster for senkos and lighter baits
Well, although a lot of guys throw soft plastics with baitcasters, I don't! The problem is not with the weight, although the right rod certainly helps. My issue is with the "rare occasion" when the bait goes airborn, which results in a backlash from hell. I know it doesn't happen often, but once is too many for me. I prefer spinning gear to avoid the hassle. 8-)

Too cool! Man, that's great. 8-)

got 'em!
Congratulations, great story! Most fish look bigger in the water, like the ones that get away! I think if everyone actually weighed their catch, most "about 5, maybe 6" would be 3lbs or so. It takes "about 8" to get to 5. 8-)

Bill Dance's Incredible Crankbait TIP!!!!!
So, "What's a Senko?" Raul, thank you. Sometimes the questions on this Forum seem boring and redundant, but for the guys posting the question, it's all new! If the question has been asked a thousand times and you find it boring, move on to another post or thread! I find Bill Dance entertaining, whether the episode is simple or not. You may not learn a thing, but others will. Over the years, Bill Dance has been an inspiration to generations and he is genuinely a very nice guy. 8-)

Line breaking on baitcaster
Hey buddy! Using a heavier line makes learning baitcasting much easier. I highly recommend Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #12 (.013" diameter, 19.5 lb test), but any other brand of #12 will help with the learning process. 8-)
