  1. I prefer them. Specifically Trokar 5/0 EWG.
  2. Rather than using a backing I would prefer 60-70 yards or so of new line when I respool. A 1000 spool holds plenty of #4 or #6 and way to much thin braid.
  3. LESS line capacity is better on spinning tackle. My preference would be the 1000, but you may like the feel and balance of the 2500. As for line, DO NOT start with fluorocarbon, it can be "springy" on spinning tackle. #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid, P-Line or Isorline XXX are all good choices.
  4. I am fishing the Magnum on both the Jika rig and Rage Blade.
  5. 3/8 and 1/2 oz jigs are pretty standard weights which can accommodate just about any trailer.
  6. Smallmouth don't flee under rocks they seek deeper, open water. I don't have an answer for what is happening, but it's not that.
  7. Rage Tail Thumper, Blue Fleck (purple); Texas rigged. Particularly effective fishing ledges.
  8. Why does the site or product name I posted show up as "another site" or as ***? First it has nothing to do with competition. In most cases, it has something to do with the points above - site owners not abiding by the rules of the forum, or over-zealous pro-staffers spamming the forums. In some cases, however, the site owner specifically requested that we do not link to their site. If your post contains ***, then that means you may not discuss that brand here. Your post will likely be deleted, and you may get banned (see the next paragraph below). No, we don't censor everything, but we do review everything. PLEASE read FAQs before posting again. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  9. Sometimes the smaller fish are shallow, often referred to as "buck bass". Try fishing a little deeper with your jigs and weighted soft plastics. Here are two specific recommendations: Rage Tail Structure Bug on a Jika rig and Rage Blade with a Structure Bug trailer ( white on white has been my best producer). Good luck!
  10. The Whopper Plopper is an other alternative that seems to be red hot.
  11. I like the 1000 for the applications you describe. Maximum drag is not an important aspect of a reel spooled with #5 line. I'm using #4 InvizX on mine.
  12. The Rainshadow Immortal is available for about half the price of the Eternity. I have two of each and have decided to go with the Immortal on a new rod I am having built. In my hands both blanks are VERY sensitive and I cannot distinguish between them.
  13. Great pic! I caught one around 3 lbs today on a jig.
  14. Well, there are a lot of VERY worthy careers that people pursue through education and hard work. These requirements pertain to sports, but there is also a God given skill requirement. No matter how much you might put into it, you are NOT going to be an NFL quarterback. There are 32 teams in the league and only about half have a legitimate "NFL quality" guy taking snaps. Round up to 20 and you have 20/ 7,000,000,000 that fit the bill.
  15. Man, I'm READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL! However, it's a tough road when "your team" is not going to be in the hunt. My team is Denver with a new coach and without a quarterback.
  16. Three choices for mr: Rage Tail Baby Craw Rage Tail Craw Rage Tail Lobster Plus the Rage DB Craw in the winter.
