  9. You don't "need" a PopMax, but they are perfect right out of the box. Perhaps more of a collector's item for some, certainly a work of art.
  10. Woo-hoo! A small group of Carolina wrens found my bird feeder this morning. As far as I know, this is the first time they have been here this year.
  11. Could be a surprise or two coming in July at the annual ICAST event. http://www.icastfishing.org/
  12. Start here, make notes and follow-up by reading all of the links. https://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_articles.html Welcome aboard!
  13. Surface tension allows the line to float, but I would still call this "neutral buoyancy". The line will not rise like a bobber when it is underwater, but it does not sink on its own. For fishing applications this attribute has no impact on your presentations one way or another.

  15. Depends on how much room you have and how much weight you want to handle. If you have boat storage every lure type can have a home of its own. With a tackle bag you have to make some choices. I keep the bulk of my tackle in a Man Cave. Then I carry a Plano 3600 in my vehicle. The third is a smaller Plano for what I plan to fish on a given day. I have one box of jigs, one for soft plastics, one for hard lures and another for spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, underspins and the like. I keep terminal tackle in a compartment with the appropriate gear, i.e., hooks and weights with soft plastics.
  16. I'm with J Francho on this, too. For a couple of rigs I like fluorocarbon mainline, on others braid with a leader and a couple with monofilament. However, if you are looking to simplify your selection, I would recommend #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid for spinning tackle and #12 Hybrid for baitcasting.
  17. Great time to have your boat checked out.
  18. This is our latest addition to the aviary: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swallow-tailed_kite For the past five or six years a nesting pair of red tail hawks have controlled the skies in my neighborhood, but these kite have replaced them (breeding pair and probably a one year old). The neighborhood is near the Wolf River and heavily wooded. In the past we have had nesting cardinals, but no other species. This year has been remarkable, but I am not sure the situation is sustainable. Currently we have nesting cardinals, blue jays and robins in the back yard (less than 3000 square feet). Visitors include a flock of about eight chickadees, three different flocks of humming birds and occasional red wrens, crows, ducks and geese. A few weeks ago we had a visit by a blue bird, but I have not seen him since. Back on topic, the Carolina wrens were frequent guests last season, but I have not seen one this year.
  19. I think any fishing knot will work if you tie it PERFECTLY. If it ain't perfect, it ain't good enough. That said, my suggestion is the Palomar for single hooks and the 16/20 (also known as Pitzen and Duncan) for lures.
  20. "That's a big one"
  21. Darn. I was going to say "You done good", but the handles are all on the wrong side!
