  1. Palomar for single hooks. Pitzen (also know as 16/ 20 and Duncan knot) for treble hook lures. As NHBull stated, "Any knot will work if properly tied", but remember this: If it ain't perfect, it ain't good enough.
  2. Pick your favorite color and fish it slow.
  3. Around 1958 it was the Creme Purple Worm. A few years later the Floating Rapala was introduced. In 1997 I discovered the Senko. Today the Rage Tail Structure Bug.

  8. No, they look and act too much like crawdads, the #1 enemy of bass.
  9. I prefer longer rods for more casting distance. 7'2" Medium Power/ Fast Action

  11. We have three rods in process. If you are interested in contributing, now would be helpful. Thank you! -Kent
  12. Your rod is anything but "all-around". More specifically it must be designed for BIG swimbaits, but it strikes me odd that it is designated medium heavy. It sounds extra heavy to me. At any rate, for line I would recommend #50 braid with a #25 fluorocarbon leader. Specifically, KastKing Black Ops/ Seaguar AbrazX. http://www.eposeidon.com/kastking-mega-8-super-performance-8-strand-braid-fishing-line http://www.seaguar.com/freshwater/fluorocarbon.html
  13. Surprisingly Cindy is tracking EXACTLY as the models predicted. The Memphis area has taken a direct hit. I am in the metropolitan area, but 25 miles from downtown. The rain started falling at 5:30 AM and is expected to continue into the early afternoon with stray showers through early tomorrow morning.
  14. I want the color to match or compliment my rod and reel. From a performance perspective, it makes no difference at all.
  15. Eight years later and still using the product as well as recommending it to others.
  16. I'm not sure exactly what you are saying, but the small ponds around here are public parks and there is no fish management. If you mean "target water known to hold big bass", all of the reservoirs of the Tennessee River and White River systems meet that requirement. On top of that there are at least twenty other impoundments within three hours of Memphis. I think the same can be said for a host of locations throughout the country. The challenge is FINDING the fish, but selecting the right lure and presentation is still very important. You are still going to have to make an investment in tackle and the choices are many.
  17. That is definitely NOT the case on the Tennessee River. The primary forage is threadfin shad. For the Great Lakes I would think the base is gobies.
  18. Once you have "everything you need", focus your spending on something new that is winning tournaments or is being widely used by tournament professionals. For example, I have at least one of everything that has supposedly "won" the Classic for the last 20 years or so. On the other hand, 99% of the time I'm fishing a soft plastic, jig or square bill this time of year.
  19. https://weather.com/storms/hurricane/news/tropical-storm-cindy-gulf-of-mexico Forecasting 6"-8" here in the Memphis area.
  20. Mine is saddled up with a Core 50Mg7. This has been my favorite set-up for several years. Although there are many techniques that this rod will excel at, mine is dedicated to swim jigs, Sworming Hornet and medium sized swimbaits (Rage Swimmer). Addressing the OP's original question, yes you can throw a Sammy, Gunfish or any other medium-heavy lure. However, the tip is soft and more suited for "moving baits". A better "all-around" rod is the MBR 844C.
