Colored Weights
For what it's worth... A few years ago I had the privilege of fishing with Big O. He said he NEVER uses unpainted weights. I took his advice.

Will you use old fishing line?
No, not to "fish", but it can be used for backing.

Do you have it?
Hmm... Fish every lure you own, but stick on a spot you KNOW holds or attracts bass. Or Stay with a bait or group of lures and cover tons of water, constantly moving and making big moves every 15 minutes. Both have worked and NOT worked for me! My preference is fishing on a river and moving all the time. When a fish is caught, IMMEDIATELY motor upstream and fish that area again. Smallmouth are NEVER loners.

Crankbait setup - whats the best gear ratio?
The Aldebaran will be fine for those lures. For heavier lures and especially deep divers, a 5 something:1 would be more comfortable.

Huntsville, AL area
I would like to fish with you at Pickwick, below the Wilson Dam. The controlling variable is ALWAYS water release, but TVA provides a three day outlook so we can plan a few days ahead of time. This is PrimeTime on the Tennessee River for smallmouth. Both of the fish in my avatar were caught in January. -Kent

I never used braid?
#14 Gliss/ Tatsu #6 is what I am currently using. The leader length is jus outside the reel so that the knot does not come into play.
