Well, this is suprising to me, I have never experienced abrasion on new Hybrid. That would kill the deal for me, too!

Well, I pretty much fish them all! These would be my top picks: Menace, Shellcracker, Cut-R, Lizard, Baby Craw, Craw & Lobster, Later when the water warms up a bit, Toad, Thumper, Anaconda and Recon. For flipping the Smokin' Rooster and I'm sure our next new favorite The Bug.

Use whatever you have been using for weighted soft plastics. If you are asking for suggestions for a new rod, I would recommend Medium Power/ Fast Action.

However, trolling the line will eliminate the problem, especially in conjunction with KVD Line & Lure Conditioner. I have #4 Yo-Zuri spooled on one reel that is probably 3 years old.
