  1. Well now, this is a bass fishing website and a lot of our guys follow the tournament trails closely. Your comment would suggest that you don't follow them at all. Of special note are some very memorable Classics that were fished under just about the worst conditions imaginable.Canceling a day due to lightening seems prudent to me.
  2. They have built a better mouse trap: Yamamoto Shad D http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=1319200&productVariantId=307999&WT.srch=1&WT.tsrc=PPC&WT.mc_id=google|130120_Soft+Baits_Jerk+Baits|USA&WT.z_mc_id1=scbrQd5xi&rid=20&pcrid=18624469504&gclid=CP6AnYi11LYCFRManQoddwUA0w
  3. Jerkbaits, Red Eye Shad, The Rig and last Sunday, NorthStar Original Swim Jig/ RageTail Shellcracker. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/116880-swim-jigs/page-2
  4. Collierville Civic Center, Nashoba & Grove Park in Germantown
  5. Another twist on the Alabama Rig: YUM Flash Mob Jr. http://www.lurenet.com/new-products/yumbrella-flash-mob-jr
  6. Here ya go: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_123/flash-mob-fish-41713.html Better buy two!
  7. One of my guys is building shorter arms with two small spinner blades kinda suspended in the middle. The baits are very small storm swimbaits on the outside and a 4" version in the middle. I am using the full size rigs. One has white Ragetail Single Tail Grubs on the outside, chartreuse in the middle. Another has LFT Live Magic Shad outside, Johnson Silver Minnow in the middle. I am using 3/0 light wire hooks on the outside. NOTE: TN only allows 3 hooks. If you have the standard rig, two of your outside arms will have to be rigged with a blade or cut off. The Red Eye Shad are pretty traditional: Red, Craw and Blue Chrome. Pick your favorite jerkbaits and colors, seems to me that everything works! I have been fishing Smithwick (Clown) mainly because they are our new sponsor.
  8. I will be on Pickwick Saturday with some big-time local sticks. On Sunday I will post what they say is hot. As far as I know, the bass are still being caught almost exclusively on The Rig, Red Eye Shad and jerkbaits. One of my friends has been having a little luck on the bottom with DD22 and Fat Free Shad, but that pattern has not been consistant.
  9. Well, good or bad, I would REALLY like to see what you think of Seaguar Kanzen and Tuf-Line SuperCast. They are both new sponsors and I am using the lines with either AbrazX or Tatsu leaders. So far so good, but a week of you fishing the line would be a much better test. -Kent
  10. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/13845-guaranteed-to-catch-bass/
  11. Wow! That's pretty interesting. So, here is my question: How do you feel about me overseeding with creeping bentgrass?
  12. I have to drive a little out of my way to pick up coffee and smokes, so it usually takes me 10 minutes or so to get to Grove Park here in Germantown. Not all the bass are 6-8 lbs, but Sunday I caught my biggest fish of the year on an Original NorthStar Swim Jig/ Rage Tail Shellcracker. I'm guessing +/- 10 lbs, but who knows? At any rate, we have some exceptional opportunities her in Metropolitan Memphis, and it's much better on both the Tennessee River and the Mighty Mississippi. Of special note for those attending the RoadTrip, Pickwick is on fire! I'm fishing upriver out of Florence, AL this Saturday, report to follow after the trip.
  13. I'm using Tuf-Line SuperCast #30/ Seaguar AbrazX #17 leader and Seaguar Kanzen #30/ Tatsu #20 leader
  14. The only issue I have with P-Line CXX is memory, especially in the higher pound test and cold weather. There is probably no tougher line on the market. For heavier "moving" baits, I think you will like the line. Howerver, for lighter bottom contact, it drives me crazy! I'm experimenting with braid and fluoro leader this season. So far, so good. If you want to give that a try, here are some suggestions: Baitcasters: Tuf-Line SuperCast #30/ Seaguar AbrazX #17 Seaguar Kanzen #30/ Tatsu #20 Spinning: Tuf-Line #20/ Tatsu #6
  15. Vertical, just like the last pic Big O posted.
  16. Buy each of these and see which you prefer: Yo-Zuri Hybrid #12 (copolymer) Seaguar AbrazX #12 (fluorocarbon)
  17. What's red hot on the Tennessee Reservoirs? Red Eye Shad The Rig Smithwick Rogues
  18. I like just about every situation and all techniques, but my two favorites are fishing ledges in the summer for largemouth and fishing the Tennessee River for smallmouth in the fall and winter. The reservoirs in the spring are producing huge numbers and big sacks. 20-30 bass and a 25 lb "best' five is pretty common right now. I think everyone attending this year's RoadTrip has a shot at a 10 lb bass, PB and big numbers. I can hardly wait!
  19. It's REALLY fun to have some jerk by the short hairs when he has no recourse what-so-ever!
  20. I acquired the Shellcracker in a couple of colors last fall, but I really have not fished them much at all. A recent post by Big O showed the bait rigged on a swim jig and the lights came on! I rigged this baby up on an Original Swim Jig from NorthStar Custom Baits, "Bluegill". On my second cast I caught what might be the biggest bass in one of my public ponds, but fer-sur, my biggest fish so far in 2013. This fat girl wasn't a Texan, but +/- 10 lbs is a whopper around these parts! This will be my "preferred rigging" for awhile.
  21. The Rig is so effective, I have almost given up on live bait. Look for birds diving into schools of shad. My buddies are killin' 'em on the Tennessee River.
