Fishing Bedding Fish!
Wwll, I use to feel the same way, but the discussions here on the Forum have changed my view. The "science" is pretty solid, bed fishing does not impact bass populations. The best example that I have personally observed is Lake Fork. We had our first two RoadTrips there during the height of the spawn. There were literally thousands of boats and it seemed like thousands of fisherman targeting bedding bass. Even with all this pressure, Lake Fork continuse to be the biggest contributor to the Texas Lunker Program. p.s. I still don't EVER intentionally fish bedding bass. Regardless of the science, I just feel like the bass should be left alone during the spawn.

Price For Spinning Reels
The Shimano Symetre is an excellent reel at a modest price, but I think the CI4 is the "best bang for your buck".

C'mon, we've all been anxious to see your response.

Swear By The Barometer?
No, there are more important factors on some lakes. The reservoirs of the Tennessee River are impacted by current more than anything else.

Favorite Jerkbait For Smallies
The Smithwick Rogue that you see in the pop-up is a pretty good color (clown).

What Are You Looking Forward To?
BassResource.com RoadTrip! Come join us in May at Pickwick. The lake is on fire and the fishing should get MUCH better in a few weeks! Last Saturday the winning bag was 35 lbs, 29 lbs for second. Two weeks ago, 11.8 lbs in tournament: http://www.mdwfp.com/applications/fishing%20reports/FishingReportsInfo.aspx?id=45

Looking For Fishing Spots Around Bartlett, Tn
I don't think I can get down to the river this weekend, so I may fish a couple of hours Saturday and Sunday mornings here locally. If that's the way it shakes out, you are welcome to join me. Let me know if you are interested and we can make arrangements to get together. -Kent

Rebuilding Tacklebox
One more thought...Don't spend all your money all at once, get a few items and build your collection over time. Unless you are set on a baitcasting rig already, I recommend starting with spinning tackle, it's easier to use when you are starting out. For baits and lures, right now the Red Eye Shad and Smithwick Rogue are red hot! Your soft plastics might be a bag of GYCB 5" Senko, Fat Ika, Rage Tail Grubs & Menace. I think a Zara Spook and Pop'R for topwater, a couple of spinnerbaits and a Norman Fat Boy should do it for now.

Spinning Reels
Any reel in that price range should be compared to the Stella 2500FE. It's like holding kitty cat in the palm of your hand. http://fish.shimano.com/publish/content/global_fish/en/us/index/products/reels/spinning/Stella_FE.html

Shimano Curado E's
Your best bet is being patient and keeping an eye on our Flea Market. I have bought most of my reels, both new and gently used, from Forum members. The Curado 50E or 200E should run $125-$150. If you get lucky, you might even buy one NIB in this price range.

Baitcaster For Everything
Depends on what "a good price" means to you. Your best bet is being patient and keeping an eye on our Flea Market. I have bought most of my reels, both new and gently used from Forum members. My two suggestions are the Shimano Citicia or Curado 50E. For "gently used" equipment the Citicia will range from $75-$85; the Curado 50E $125-$150.

Are There Some Baits You Just Won't Use?
Well, as a Moderator I have volunteered to read nearly every post on every thread. I've been doing this awhile. This has turned into my favorite of all time! Frankly, I'm just amazed by some of the comments, so I'll add one of mine from a few years back: "I don't fish 5" GYCB Senkos anymore because they just catch too many fish!"
