  1. Dateline: Saturday February 23, 2013 I am trying to get confirmation and pics, but this is the story I heard this morning: Saturday in a small tournament the winning bag came in at 37+ lbs, including an 11.8. Every fish was caught in 20'-25' water on The Rig, white grubs on the outside arms, chartreuse in the middle.

  4. Equipment: Tuf-Line Super-Cast #20 Pinnacle Optimus XLT/ Perfecta DHC Red Eye Shad The line is a unique braided composite. The ouside is slick, extending casting distance by more than 10%. The finish eliminates the "noise" associated with all other brands of braid. There are no knot issues. Actual breaking strength is 32 lbs. Yesterday was the first time I had fished the line. My initial assessment is a dead solid 10.
  5. Well, it wasn't the Classic, but a friend and I kicked some booty yesterday! Caught a couple on a Red Eye Shad, but 28 of 32 were on Smithwick Rogues. I love me some jerkbait action!
  6. I suggest the Avid AVC66MF for both topwater and jerkbaits. The tip is soft enough for treble hook lures, but stout enough to work your lure VERY effectively!

  9. Man, I feel so bad for this guy. As everyone at last year's RoadTrip remembers, Chris was our guest speaker at the banquet. What a GREAT GUY he is! To zero on the first day is just devastating. If you haven't seen his comments, check it out. The man may be humbled, but he still retains a winning attitude. Life is good and he lives to fight another day. http://www.bassmaster.com/blog/not-one-bite-today
  10. The length of the rod you choose is personal preference. I recommend 6 1/2'-7' Medium Power/ Moderate Action. Braided line is not the best choice for this application. Try a #12 monofilament or copolymer (Yo-Zuri Hybrid).
  11. I don't know... "Revolutionary lures" to me are the Original Floating Rapala and the Senko. The closest thing today is The Rig.
  12. No issues other than line capacity if you use a thick diameter like 20+ lb mono or fluoro. I have (2) Vintage Chronarch 50Mg, Core 50, Curado 50E. I prefer this size reel, it is VERY comfortable for me!
  13. Great fish, great pic!
  14. ghoti. posted a rather detailed study he conducted. He concluded that his hands were not sensitive enough to truely appreciate the claims of high-end rods. He is a very good fisherman and a friend of mine. I know his conclusion is true of himself and probably true for a large percentage of anglers. However, that does not apply to everyone. The feel of the most subtle change is well know to many. For those fisherman the sensitivity issue is important. Better equipment does not make a poor fisherman good, but it might make a good fisherman better!
  15. Hmm... Bass Blvd says comparing the NRX to a GLX is lkie comparing a GLX to a 2X4.
  16. Pick your favorite.
  17. You will need to state a pricing point to receive a helpful suggestion for rods & reels. The generic answer is "the same rig you use for other soft plastics". Mine is a St. Croix LES70MF/ Stella 2500FE/ Yo-Zuri Hybrid #4 or #6.
  18. Lews has made a big splash in the past couple of years. If the reels hold up, they are certainly a contender. It reminds me a lot of the Revo introduction which brought Abu Garcia into the new millenium!
  19. You can read about this argument until the cows come home.
  20. Great name for a lure, too! When will The Perfect 10 become available?
  21. Spinning tackle: #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid Baitcasting gear: #12 Hybrid
