  1. I haven't heard of a rod mat, but an exercise mat that would work for you.
  2. No, but I think these will look great on a CTE200GT https://www.hawgtech.com//
  3. Welcome aboard! I hope you will consider joining us for the annual RoadTrip at Pickwick this spring.
  4. "What is the best..." is the most popular topic on the Forum by a large margin. Generally, but not always, the question comes from a new member and often someone who is also new to fishing. The easiest response, especially from Moderators, is to direct the inquiry to one of the other 100 threads addressing the same topic that have been posted this month! For some of our seasoned members it seems pretty redundant, so what happens is that those that are most enthusiastic tend to respond. For the fisherman asking the question, it's important and fresh information. Does anyone want to know what line I might recommend for spinning tackle? The fishing industry is very competitive which leads to constant innovation and product improvement. Although we don't seem to be generating a big following for Pinnacle, their upper end rods and reels are comparable to any of the top brands. My Optimus XLT ($199.99) performs every bit as well as the Curado E series. Give that a try if you want to Start a new posse! Which brings up the Shimano Posse. In "unscientific polls" here at BassResource.com, Shimano reels generally are favored by +/-60% of the respondents vs. the field. As a result, responses to "What is the best reel" are going to be slanted that way. The biggest issue, I think, is butting into a unrelated thread. I have specifically asked members of The Posse to stay away from other peoples threads. If the topic Is Abu Garcia only or Abu verses Lew's, comments suggesting a Shimano alternative are not wanted. Back on point...Many people are loyal to their brand because of their positive experience with the product or a combination of issues with competing companies. I wish someone would have helped me years ago rather than experimenting through trial and error. I hope the advice on this forum helps all fisherman, new and "used", save some precious money and catch bigger fish. I like to think we all can gain from the experience of others.
  5. Smithwick Rogue, Red Eye Shad and Norman Fat Boy.
  6. The Shak-E2 sets the bar for me: http://www.megastrike.com/#!products/vstc2=shake2-heads You might find it interesting the BassResource members urged Bobby to create the Pro Series which I use. The jig head itself, whether you fish the Original or Pro Series, is unique.
  7. We fish a variety of live bait on the Tennessee River. Shiners for smallmouth; gizzard shad, threadfin (yellowtail) and skipjack for stripers; crickets for gill and baby crawdads for white bass. The most important tip I can offer is switching to Gamakatsu Octopus Circle Hooks. The circle hook will reduce hand-ups, but most importantly they virtually eliminate gut-hooks! For bass we use a split shot rig with a #4 or #6 hook. For stripers a 3-way swivel, 3 oz weight and 4/0 octopus circle hook. Baitholder hooks are fine for bluegill and white bass that are being harvested. We use the split shot rig for this. too.
  8. It is for me, but that's almost entirely subjective. Why do some guys drive a Lexus when a Camry will get them from A to B just as efficiently? The Camry is a GREAT automobile and has been the most popular passenger car for years. You can buy 4 or 5 Camry ($22k-$30k) for the price of 1 Lexus LS 600h ($120,000). Another thing that I think is crazy is getting so tied up in the cost of fishing gear that is measured in $10, $20 and $100 increments. The same guy buys a $25k truck with another several thousand dollars worth of add-ons. I like moon roofs and sun roofs, but is a hole in the ceiling really "worth" $2000?

  10. Why not ask Gary to join our team of sponsors? We have "a few" guys that fish the Senko and I guess I'm the sponsor for the Fat Ika. Here are a few articles that he should see: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/6454-the-magic-lure/ http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/11664-warning-you-might-get-your-arm-broke/ http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/13845-guaranteed-to-catch-bass/ -Kent
  11. The topic belongs in our "Tackle" section. Cabela's Women's Dry-Plus is what you are looking for. They offer both light and heavy options, I can't copy the page for some reason, so just go to Cabela's website, then women's clothing. -Kent
  12. BPS carries the Recon. It's pretty new, I doubt many fish have seen it yet. You will like the action you see and I think the fish will react to the subtle vibration of the ribbing which you can't really see. I'm a big fan of the Thumper and Anaconda. I expect the Recon to be another great addition to the Rage Tail line-up.
  13. Smooth, strong, silent and reliant. The final product is a combination of design, engineering, machining, components and quality control. Most reels feel great right out of the box, but it's performance over time that counts. I began fishing the Stradic series when it was introduced in the 1990s. Over the years I have given all my reels to friends who are still fishing them. What impresses me even more is constant improvements. If you visit the Shimano website specifications for every model are listed. I'm not an engineer and I don't really know what most of these features mean. I do know that the finished reel has been built on a foundation that has produced great fishing equipment for decades. Their reputation for top quality freshwater gear is only exceeded by their reputation among saltwater fishermen.
  14. I don't think there is much distinction in performance between the Core 50 and 100. The 50 just feels better to me. I have the 100 mounted on a G.Loomis PR844C which is my primary topwater rig. The 50 is matched to a MBR842C. This is my overall favorite combination. I use it primarily for soft swimbaits and swim jigs.
  15. I grew up in Kansas City when the AFL was created. My wife and I moved to Denver in 1980, but we didn't change our allegiance until John Elway was drafted. We moved to Tennessee in 1997.
  16. I feel the same way about the Broncos!
  17. Topwater and maybe jerkbaits if you like the rod's action. I use a heavy cranking rod for my Alabama Rig, too.
  18. Heat in the summer might be an issue, but cold is not.
  19. My suggestion addressed the OP's request: Buiild The Ultimate Tackle Box. As far as any particular outing goes, I might not take much more than what I am rigged with. When I am pond fishing from the bank, one rod and maybe 1 or 2 extra baits/lures in case I lose the first! Right now three rigs are really working at Pickwick: Jerkbaits, Red Eye Shad and The Rig.
  20. Welcome aboard! I hope you can make it to the RoadTrip at Pickwick!
  21. Geez, this turned into a very special thread. Hanover__Yakker, that's quite an accomplishment just getting to the Big Show!
  22. I don't think Bobby is "hating" on anyone, just telling it like it is. He has created several unique offerings in a crowded market. What could possibly be "new" in these categories: Buzzbait, spinnerbait, jigs & jig heads? Well, take a close look at the Cavitron buzzbait, StrikeBack spinnerbait, Evolution Jig and ShakE2 jig heads. I think Bobby also knows a thing or two about marketing.
  23. No, you can use the goo on anything.
  24. I'm still looking for more of the Tennessee guys to sign up. C'mon guys, it's practically in our backyard!
