  1. Really? All the respondents so far own the rod. If they don't agree with your evaluation is that somehow wrong? There is a vast array of experience on this Forum, but opinions often vary. I have several St. Croix rods, but not this specific model. Generally, St. Croix ratings are lower than what might be considered "the norm". Based solely on the rating, this Premier sounds like more of an "all-around" rod. That would suggest that although it could be used for frog fishing, it might not be the "ideal' equipment.
  2. I guess I missed this post last week. How did you do?
  3. Yo-Zuri Hybrid is a blend of nylon and fluorocarbon, bonded not coated. The line "floats" as a result of surface tension, not buoyancy. From a fishing standpoint, the line is neutral and has no impact on fishing applications- it neither sinks nor floats. Here's a little test: Cut a foot of line and drop it a sink filled with water. The line will float (surface tension). Now push it to the bottom of the sink and it will stay right there.
  4. Top quality jigs at a great price! My favorite is The Original Swim Jig. Try the new Rage Tail Menace as a trailer on both jigs, I think you will be impressed.
  5. Man, that was great! I think the underwater photography is fantastic! Nice fish, buddy!
  6. Welcome aboard!
  7. I'm not a fan of Original Fireline, but Fireline Braid is okay.
  8. Welcome aboard!
  9. The jury is still out for me. I have been fishing Sufix 832 using a direct tie for the past year or so, but I am currently experimenting with fluorocarbon leader. Specifically Seaguar AbrazX #12. Although I am not a big fan of braided line, it has improved my jig fishing significantly. I'm very interested in what others have to say.

  16. Well, do you remember the 2005 Classic at Three Rivers? http://www.bassmaster.com/tournaments/2005-bassmaster-classic 12.15 lb total for the win...B-O-R-I-N-G...
  17. Welcome aboard!
  18. I don't know...the whole story sounds "fishy" to me. It's hard to believe that a commercial outfitter would be "too whipped" to weigh the biggest fish his boat had ever landed. I think anyone in the business would exploit an opportunity like that. Two other aspects of the catch make no sense either. Do you know anyone that wouldn't want their picture taken with this trophy? And what's up with "over-sleeping" to miss the weigh-in. What does that comment mean? What kind of contest would that be? And if there was some prize involved, who in the world would NOT weigh their fish as soon as possible rather than leaving it out to dry overnight? I suspect there is much more to this story, either illegal or unethical.
  19. Welcome aboard!
  20. His standard Mustad Hooks have worked well for me, but the Owner XXX do make a statement! I hope you give the Storm Series a try, too.
  21. Two years ago on the 2011 RoadTrip Big O and our two soldiers caught 144 during the flood, including at least 2 PBs and maybe a third if Big O fessed up! Some of these brown fish were caught on Red Eye Shad, but the majority were fooled by the Rage Tail Baby Craw. This intel was shared with everyone on the trip and needless to say, it was the Baby Craw that ruled the outing.
  22. Woo-Hoo! Congratulations!
