  3. Great thread! We have decided to quit pinning articles, but this will be left here in this Forum and another in "Best Of BassResource.com" at the top of the General Section. Again, Thank you! -Kent
  4. Concentrate your efforts breaking the water into manageable segments. Think of a cove as your "pond". You will generally discover both structure and cover. At the very least there are always two primary points. where the cove meets the main lake. There is generally transition, from the back of the cove where water comes in, stream or just run-off. At the source there may be gravel, sand or rocks that have washed into the cove. You will probably fisn spots with laydowns and vegetation, too. Think of big water as a puzzle and look closely at each piece of that puzzle.
  5. I never saw this story, but I saw the first show. It was recognized as a museum piece and no value was assigned as I recall. Maybe that is the "other" blanket they referred to in a museum.
  6. This is my next dog:
  7. There are several similarities, but that fish is a smallmouth buffalo: http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/Home/species_a_to_z/SpeciesGuideIndex/smallmouthbuffalo/tabid/6757/Default.aspx
  8. That is not a carp, it's a buffalo. They get gigantic, literally too big for your net! The fight is very similar to a smallmouth except they don't jump. The TN State Record is 62.7 lbs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ictiobus
  9. If you care, it's SHOWTIME!
  10. I don't care. The only thing worth watching is Beach Volleyball!

  17. Thanks! I may pick up some #4. I bought a pound of both #6 & #12 last year. We will find out some day if there is actually any shelf life limitations for the line. I don't remember exactly how many MILES of line these spools hold, but a pound of #4 might last a lifetime even if you share it with all your friends!

  19. George Welcome: Let's get technical, as there are in fact reasons, not just some lame holdover from days past that put the handles where they are. What will move the fish during retrieval is placed to the strong hand! A baitcast is designed to be used as a winch, so it is the reel that retrieves the fish. Hence if you are right handed the handle is in your right hand. A spinning reel is designed to pick up unloaded or loose line, not retrieve the fish. Hence it is the rod that does the retrieval, so it is the rod that is in your strong hand. If you are right handed then the pole goes to the right hand.

  22. Well, "finding the fish" is always the biggest challenge. As a general rule, it's always about structure, cover and prey fish on the lake. On the river those are all important considerations, but water release (current) trumps everything else. Rather than broad generalizations, here are some tips for Pickwick Reservoir: Upper end: The Horseshoe below Wilson Dam; McFarland Harbor and the bank down river to the creek; bluffs directly across from McFarland; rock ridges begiining at the island in front of Sheffield Park; the front of Nine Mile Island; the inside bank across the river from Cane Creek, beginning at the power lines and working downstream. Middle: Waterloo, Bear Creek Lower End: Indian Creek, Yellow Creek, Panther Creek and Dry Creek Tennessee River below the dam: Both sides down to the power lines and the outside ridges to The Narrows. Also, the front of Diamond Island
