  1. Call Gitzit and Mizmo, I pretty sure you can make a deal.
  2. (1) The line's breaking strenght is SIGNIFICANTLY higher than implied: #6 = 11.9 lb, .010" diameter #12 = 19.5 lb, .0a3" diameter (2) Green is virtually invisable in gin clear water Purple Smoke bends best in stained water (3) The line is very manageable, especially when treated with KVD Line & Lure Conditioner (4) Hybrid is cheap and often on sale. I have a 1lb spool of both #6 & #12 that I bought for around $25. 1000 yards is sometimes on sale for $7.99
  3. Well, at least in theory, the fishing should be MUCH BETTER in May than late February. However, lots of DDs have been caught this winter and the "numbers" are showing up, too. Sunday I caught 32 on Smithwick Rogues and Red Eye Shad. We fished from 8:00 to 4:00, but wasted a couple of hours hunting stripes. Saturday my partners caught 19 between them, all on The Rig. For some reason we couldn''t find them Sunday. BTW, although their fish were only 15-25 lbs, they have been catching plenty of 30 lbs+.
  4. Here is another article and pic: http://www.mdwfp.com/applications/fishing%20reports/FishingReportsInfo.aspx?id=45
  5. I bought a Rogue last year or the year before which was a couple of bucks more expensive than the standard lure because of the Gamakatsu hooks. I will examine it more closely this evening, but I don't recall an other changes in design.
  6. We have a new sponsor: TUF-LINE. They are offering BassResource.com members a spool for the cost of shipping. Don't you want to give it a try for $4.99? I fished 20# Supercast on Sunday and REALLY liked it!
  7. I spooled up #20 last weekend on a baitcaster I use exclusively for shallow crankbaits, on this particular day, the Red Eye Shad. I was expecting an occasional issue with the line digging into the spool. This is common with all small diameter braids I have used. The Tuf-Line Supercast NEVER dug into the spool all day. Can you explain why?
  8. Spinning tackle: #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid Baitcasting gear: #12 Hybrid
  9. I change my line "as needed" or once a year. I don't think Yo-Zuri, fluorocarbon or braid break down like monofilament lines.
  10. Hmm...I responded yesterday...Must not have touched "Post" I have Rogues that are 16 years old, but last weekend I fished brand new lures. Maybe your friends have their older lures better trained. Although my new Rogues performed perfectly right out of the package, the lures have always been known for sometimes requiring a slight modification. The upside is that every lure is somewhat unique.
  11. The new Rogue that was introduced at the Classic is "The Perfect 10". I think the Pro Series was introduced several years ago. As I recall, the main feature was Gamakatsu Treble Hooks. What does the packaging highlight?
  12. Wow! That's something else. We will all be anxious to hear more about the rod after you fish it a few times. Please post a review in a few weeks. -Kent
  13. A BR member sent me his Lew's TP which I fished for several outings over a 3-4 week period. The casting distance was outstanding and the reel was buttery smooth. My issue is the same one I initially had with the Abu Garcia STX, dialing in both of these reels required some effort. I have the STX in the groove and no doubt the TP can be "trained", perhaps in short order. By comparison, give me any Shimano, new or old, and I will have it set perfectly for the first or second cast. Yes, it's really that easy! On another post I stated that Lew's has really been the up and coming brand for the past couple of years and has developed quite a following. Longevity is still up in the air, but if the reels stand up to the test of time, you've got a winner!
  14. Whether it's braid or fluorocarbon, I like about 80 yards. That's about two casts worth plus twenty yards of margin. Most importantly for me is never feeling the knot. Next would be having a full spool.
  15. Oops! I'm one of your biggest fans. I guess I need to do my homework a little better. I didn't know you offered the weighted hooks.
  16. Right now the big bite is on at Pickwick below the Wilson Dam. The Rig, jerkbaits and Red Eye Shad are everything you need.
  17. Norman Fat Boy, Redear
  18. Must have in every color! http://www.lurenet.com/fishing-articles/bass-tournament-news/perfect10
  19. Alright, I talked to a friend that fished the tournament. He told me a picture was posted on Facebook, Hammer Rods. Not only is the fish legit, the dude caught it the day before pre-fishing! Same fish, same bait, same location two days in a row. My friend also said the total winning weight was 29 lbs, the 39 I reported was a week earlier. For those of you sitting on the fence, especially you local guys, get your plans made. Double digits are being caught every week, The fishing will be even better the first week May. Pickwick is on fire!
  20. I collect jerkbaits more than any other class of hard baits. I like the Megabass Ito Vision 110, too!
  21. http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=1094289&productVariantId=2805806&WT.tsrc=CSE&WT.mc_id=GoogleProductAds&WT.z_mc_id1=03099569&rid=40&channel=GoogleBaseUSA&mr:trackingCode=81AE71D9-9105-E011-9612-001B21631C34&mr:referralID=NA&mr:adType=pla&mr:ad=19135905911&mr:keyword=&mr:match=&mr:filter=43641097511&gclid=CI3a87nz07UCFQUGnQodlzYA2g A quick Google searach brought up several retailers.
  22. Probably would have, but since Smithwick just became a sponsor lately, that's what I fished.
  23. You will be fine, I have used both brands.
  24. I'd say she kicked some a$$ on Sunday and the pole position was a VERY big deal! For most of the day she was Top 5 which helped her keep out of the fray, in front of the wreck. Danica went into the last lap in 3rd place before being squeezed back.
