  1. Well, if you pay any attention to what's going on in the tournment circles, professional or club, the "effectiveness" is not subject to debate. My personal experience has been AWESOME! Regarding "decoys" and one lure in the middle: Have not tried that presentation yet, but neither me nor anyone I fish with has EVER caught a single fish on the outside lures. The outside baits create the illusion of a school of fish, but the target is the middle lure. Of particular note, Andy Posse (the inventor of The Rig) told me that "flash" is critical. I have used a blade on the middle arm with a swimbait trailer and no blade, but a Johnson Silver Minnow as the main bait. Both presentations are killer!
  2. Welcome aboard! Spend some time in "Fishing Articles" at the top of the page, I think you will really like some of the articles and tips.
  3. You should be able to find a NIB Curado for around $125 or less. Some were discounted last fall for $89. I own both the 50 and the 200. These are "best values". My personal preference is the CU50.
  4. Yes, but your odds increase dramatically around structure and/ or cover. A specific example would be a ridge surrounded by deeper water on at least one side. Baitfish may be attracted to the area and predators will follow. Also, even in the absence of baitfish, smallmouth will relate to structure for protection and potential ambush! p.s. It's spring now, but my advice applies year-around.
  5. WOW! I have never owned a jig that has survived 50 casts. The Tennessee River is unforgiving. My ponds are just as bad!
  6. Nobody likes those frogs.
  7. Looking for just one? MBR842C/ Core 50MG

  9. No, but I want them to look pretty to me.
  10. Depends on what you are looking for, but scroll through our sponsor's websites first. They pay the freight around here and keep us "free" for members. Please click on the site here at BassReaource so we are credited with your order. There is no additional cost to you. Here is a perfect example and NorthStar is having a sale! Thanks!
  11. Deep: Lamiglas SR705R/ CTE200GT All-around: Pinnacle DHC5-701CAMCB/ Optimus XLT Lighter lures: Avid AVC70MM
  12. Add some Lobsters to your collections and play with different riggings. If you fish the Craw or Lobster naked, in addition to the traditional T-rig, try a weighted hook, mojo rig and Jika Rig.
  13. Hmm... Been working great for me for a decade or so... I do use KVD Line & Lure Conditioner, but never have any of the issues you have described. I suspect that you spooled it incorrectly. If you "troll" the line, you will cure all of your problems regardless of how it was spooled.
  14. A new Oklahoma State Record was caught last week on a 1/4 oz finness jig. Huge fish will eat small presentations, but as a general rule, big baits are more attractive to big bass.

My goal is to minimize the weight. I was using small LFT Live Magic Shad on the outside arms, no weight and light wire 4/0 Offset Worm Hooks. On the middle arm, Johnson Silver Minnow. Last weekend we put a willow blade on the center arm above the swivel attachment and rigged a bigger LFT Shad on a 6/0 heavy duty worm hook. So far, neither me or any of my partners have caught a single fish on the outside baits. 100% of our hook-ups are on the middle lure. I think a variety of combinations will work just fine, but according to Andy Posse, flash in the middle is the most important part of the rigging
  16. So silly... There are 32 teams in the NFL and only about 25 QBs that belong in the NFL. T-Bow is one of a few that took his team to the play-offs and won a game. How did all those other guys do?
  17. Shimano Curado 200E or 50E. The reels are everything you want and can be bought within your pricing range with a little shopping.
  18. The spawn has not started on Pickwick, but the fishing is the best it has EVER been!
