My Next Fishing Trip.....jigs Only!
Hmm... I don't understand what you are saying about the snap set. This is my description: When you detect a bite, reel down QUICKLY, then snap your wrist to raise the rod tip without moving your hands relative to your body.

Cranks & Moving Baits - Slower Actions Vs Softer Tips
I like a moderate rod for most treble hook lures. The exception is jerkbaits. For this application I prefer MF with a soft tip, specifically the Avid AVC66MF.

My Next Fishing Trip.....jigs Only!
I suspect you are losing fish due to pumping your rod. Keep your rod tip up and reel steadily, never allowing any slack in your line.

Am I Crazy?
Tatsu is the best fluorocarbon I have ever fished. If you can afford it, give it a try. I'm sure you will love this line!

Rods/ Lures
For enthusiasts, technique specific gear is fun to collect. However, three rigs cover all the basics: #1 6 1/2' or 7' MH baitcaster for jigs, some soft plastics and spinnerbaits #2 6 1/2' or 7' MM baitcaster for treble hook lures #3 7' MF spinning rod for lighter lures and a variety of techniques

Bass Fishing Capital Usa
Great fishery, no doubt! However, until there have been several 10 lb fish caught, the talk of a new World Record is premature. The current World Record and the second largest smallmouth were caught at Dale Hollow. Number three is the Alabama State Record (10.8) caught on the Tennessee River below Joe Wheeler Dam. The next World Record will be caught below Pickwick Dam.

Guaranteed To Catch Bass
No. When you feel the "tick-tick" set the hook. The "snap hookset" is my recommendation: When you detect a bite, reel down QUICKLY to eliminate slack in the line, then "snap" your wrist lifting the rod tip with your hands without changing the position relative to your body. You don't need a "Bill Dance" hookset to drive the hook home.

Do You Weigh More Than You Should?
Well, I have a little different take on it. I think my weight is fine, I just need to be 3" or 4" taller!

Spiff Up Your Jig Heads
If you don't have painted heads or if the ones you have been using are scratched, paint them or touch them up with fingernail polish. Hang them by the hook to dry.

Shakeyhead Tips
I fish the 3/8 oz MegaStrike Shak-e2 Pro Model. My favorite plastic for this is the GYCB 6 1/2" Kut Tail. Cast as you would with any other soft plastic, then let the bait sit for 15 seconds or longer. Lift your rod tip to move the bait up and forward about a foot or so. Allow long intervals between movement. While the bait is sitting on the bottom, gently shake your rod to shake the Kut Tail without moving the lure up or forward. Repeat until you feel you are "out of the zone". Another very popular worm that I use is the Roboworm, but any soft plastic is an option. Others I use include the Rage Hawg and 7" Rage Tail Thumper.

Bassresource At Guntersville!
For those of us in the Southeast, we're gonna have a party in our backyard! I hope you are planning to come to Guntersville for this year's Roadtrip. If you have a fishing buddy, bring them along, too. Make you reservations soon, some of us will be there early to fish Saturday and Sunday. We are planning a little get together Saturday night for introductions and good cheer. Hope to see you there! -Kent

Hey Boys & Girls!
Are you ready to rumble? The Roadtrip is just around the corner. If you are thinking about joining the group, let's all get signed up and try to encourage some of our local friends to come with us! Guntersville should be red hot in late April. I expect a lot of PBs and really great numbers. 25-30 pound "Best Five" is realistic, we might even have a couple of guys with double digits! I hope to see the old gang and meet a lot of new friends. Whether you can come down for the whole week or just a few days, we're going to have some fun. If you want to come early, several of us plan to fish Saturday and Sunday. Join the party and bring a friend!

Jerkbait Question
Take a look at the video: http://www.rapala.co...default,pd.html _______________ Well, I just tested one in my pool. I think it can be said that the X-Rap suspends although technically, it floats to the top. The "float" is slow, so I will concede, it qualifies as suspending.

Jerkbait Question
I like the Pointers for casting, consistency, perfect suspendition and the subtle vibration when the bait is still.I still fish the X-Rap (XR08) when the fish are VERY active. Rapala calls this series a "Slashbait", not a jerkbait. They do not suspend.

Adding One To The "guarantee"
Fishing treble hooks, or any exposed hook for that matter, is an issue on the Tennessee River. However, if you can keep them of the bottom, the fish eat 'em up! The Silver Buddy is basically the same lure. The down side to both, in addition to hanging up, is catching every species in the river. In this region, white bass and striper are always on the hunt..

15# Flourocarbon Affects
I'm a big fan of Yo-Zuri Hybrid and it will work just fine. However, last year I attended a class in Nashville with several touring pros. They unanimously recommended monofilament line for jerkbaits. I'm using #12 Sunline Super Natural.
