  1. Interesting, the "original spinning reel" introduced in 1948. I wonder why they gave up their lead in engineering and innovation? The newer reels seem to be lesser reels than the original. I might make some effort to find a '48.
  2. I suspect every rod & reel combination you own is a "close second"!

  7. Some people keep their honey-holes secret, but I have introduced a lot of guys to mine, be it ponds or places on the Tennessee River. Just remember to remind anyone you introduce to "our pond" that the only reason we have such a tremendous resource so close is because we take care of our fish. I probably haven't caught every big fish in the pond, but I might have at one time or another. Other guys have an opportunity to catch a trophy because we put every fish back!
  8. C'mon now... It's getting close to showtime. We have a pretty fair commitment already, so if you can join us sign up and get ready to rumble!

  11. You really need to try some different hooks. These are what I use: http://www.moanerhooks.com/ Owner's version is the TwistLock: http://www.ownerhook...s/basshooks.htm Both brands offer both weighted and unweighted styles. I had a day last spring where I fished a single 7" Rage Tail Thumper and caught 48 bass! I attribute this all to the Moaner Hook.
  12. I think you will be just fine. 6.4 is actually a more versatile.

  16. I am so addicted to the jig I often fish one even when I know something else would be a better choice! My #1 tip: Fish braided line, it has improved my jig fishing significantly.
