  1. Sometimes I wish my girlfriend would go with me .She went with me one time 3 years ago and hasn't been since. She doesn't say anything most of the time when I go but sometimes I have to listen to the, you love fishing more than you love me bit.
  2. I use 12 lb McCoy for cranks
  3. Yeah.. I thought about diving in, but I didn’t feel comfortable jumping in the muddy water when I was by myself. I marked a waypoint and plan on going back and trying to snag it.
  4. Two of my rods got tangled up on the deck of my Pond Prowler yesterday. Finally got them untangled and my Tatula SV on a Zillion rod went down in 9 foot of water. I tried dragging the bottom for a hour or so with no luck. I feel sick.
  5. Don’t use Pressure treated lumber in a Jon boat. It will have a bad reaction with the aluminum.
  6. Another vote for the Tatula . More lighter and sensitive than the Fury.
  7. I usually keep a lot of pressure on them to keep them from jumping but it doesn't always work. I lost a huge bass yesterday evening. She put up a good fight for a minute then went airborne with the jig flying out of her mouth.
  8. My earliest memories were when I was probably around 5 or so. Me and my dad would go out to the pasture and dig up nightcrawlers from underneath dried up cow pies. We would fish a couple local ponds and the local river that was stocked with trout. When I got bigger I would ride my bicycle and fish the ponds and 2 lakes within a several mile radius of the farm. I had mostly plastic worms and I remember fishing a Jitterbug alot. I brought whatever lures I had with money I made from mowing grass. I used my dads gear which was a Zebco 404 and a 33 until I bought my first baitcaster when I was around 19 or so.
  9. With baitcasters I cast with right, switch hands, then reel with right. I don't use spinning gear. Been doing it this way for close to 40 years and don't see it changing.
  10. I also use a worm binder. Takes up very little space.
  11. The Kistler H3 will be the most lightest and sensitive of the rods you have listed. Doesn't cost a lot more than the Avid if you get one while it's on sale. I have no experience with the KLX.
  12. I would fish it a little later in the day or early morning since it has been so hot. I’ve always had better luck fishing closer to sunset in ponds in the summertime. I like throwing a jig or t-rigs around pads when it’s hot. Also try a frog.
  13. The Mojo has a better blank so it should be more sensitive.
  14. I use a Tatula rod for Lipless crankbaits and I really like it and there is no way a more expensive rod would put more fish in the boat. Since you say that you think it’s sensitive enough, I see no reason to upgrade. As far as a new bottom contact rod, I recommend a Kistler Helium 3, which can be found for a lot less than 300 when on sale.
  15. Fluorocarbon- P-Line Tactical or Sunline Sniper Braid - Seaguar Smackdown
  16. Actually Lowrance gave you the correct information. No Frequency settings in active imaging according to this video.https://youtu.be/u4kbIE7jCRk
  17. I don't have the TI2, but I have the original TI. I can change between 455 and 800 in the sidebar menu. Does it not tell you what frequency you are in on the bottom left corner of the screen? Maybe someone from Lowrance told you wrong, especially if the manual tells you that the frequency can be changed. I would contact Lowrance again and talk to someone else.
  18. Both companies make quality reels. I prefer the ease of setup and braking of Daiwa.
  19. I agree with the other replies for Garmin being the simplest to use. I recently switched from the Garmin Striker to a Lowrance Elite 7ti. With the Garmin all I had to do was turn it on and go fishing with the Lowrance I have to adjust the settings just about every time I go out.
  20. I like my Daiwa Tatula 7’ M/R for crankbaits. I also have a Fury 705cb and I agree with you about them being heavy. I especially notice it when I start using the Fury after I’ve had the Daiwa in my hands for a couple of hours.
  21. That's going to be hard to find. Most crankbait rods that are good for shallow and medium divers are too whippy for deep divers.
  22. A pencil through a small cardboard box works well for me.
