I’ve been using McCoys for a while now on my crankbait and spinnerbait setups and like it. Casts great and I haven’t had any break offs. Have used P-line CX in the past and liked that as well.

I prefer the Bill Lewis traps. I catch a lot more with those than the RES. I don't think I've ever bought a RES that wouldn't run true, but I've had issues with the hooks breaking.

I use Big Game for backing on my reels that have fluoro and braid. I do it because the lines I use aren’t cheap and by using backing a spool of line goes farther.

20 minutes after I launched my boat yesterday the bottom fell out of the sky and it poured down rain like you wouldn't believe. I toughed it out and caught several bass on a jig and a 5 pounder on a Squarebill. Last year my area had record setting rainfall amounts. 63.5 inches, highest since 1889.

Fluorocarbon is bad for topwater lures because it sinks and there is no need for a leader with topwaters, just another knot to fail.

What do you dislike about the knobs?

Blue mirror lenses are the darkest and the best for bright sun.

I broke a Crucial rod a few years ago. Shimano offered to send me a new rod for half price. Not sure if they still do that or not. Call them and find out.

I'm not sure how often they have there sales but the Tatula rods and reels have been on sale for the past several months. They have fast shipping also. I ordered my Tatula 100 on a Saturday and it was at my door Wednesday. I use 7.1 for jigs and frogs.

For the same price you can get a Daiwa Tatula rod from Sportsman’s Outfitters and get a lot better rod.

During the prespawn the majority of my fish were caught on a lipless crank and a Spro Little John. Postspawn I've been catching them with a jig and Rage Craw trailer.

Long sleeves don't work for me. I wore a long sleeve Huk shirt one 90+ degree day last summer and I hated it. Never again.

I use 6.3 on all moving baits.

My Tatula 100 had some side play out of the box. Was set just the way I like it.

If you're talking 250 for both the rod and reel i would say Tatula 100 with a Tatula rod. Both can be bought from Sportsman's outfitters for way under $250.

You must have gotten a bad spool. It’s no way it should have turned colors that fast. Did you contact Seaguar?

Amazon has the elite 7 ti 2 for 599 that comes with the HDI transducer that will mount on a trolling motor. Doesn't have side imaging though. Only 2d and DI.

I have that same reel and mine makes none of the noises you describe. Can you return it where you bought it for another one? Spool tension is set just right on these reels right out of the box for optimum performance.
