Today. I was okay with just one bass.
Most of my biggest catches, including my PB, have came on absolute grinders where there was just one or two bites all day, but they were the right ones! I still consider those days a success in my book, well done sir!

. That's pretty wild... Especially during a time when that would be considered EXTREMELY taboo.

Seasonal bass behavior around Austin, TX
You're going to have to force them to eat. And "eat" really isn't the right word for this scenario... more like, attack or defend. Hard to get them to "eat" when they aren't hungry. I would try this and hopefully you can get a reaction bite

If you could fish with five BR members & five pros, who would they be?
I'm still learning who everyone is on here to be picking and choosing BR members... but as far as pros go: - Jason Christie - Todd Castledine - Bryan Thrift - Gerald Swindle - Ott Defoe

From The Outside Looking In
I got the idea of this topic from a statement that my wife said tonight... "I don't know how anyone can enjoy bass fishing like you do, it looks like so much work!". This statement stems from years of her watching me spend entire days rigging/re-rigging for a fishing trip or tournament, watching me leave home for days at a time to drive 7 hours one way or for the local lakes, leave home at 5am, fish all day and return a 5pm, ready for the next trip. In addition, knowing that there have been days on the water where I haven't actually fished, but instead just spent the day graphing and looking for fish for future trips, only to come home and watch 5 episode of Zona's Awesome Fishing Show or hours of YouTube content before inevitably ending up at BassResource.com at some point... I'm sure from an outsider we all look rather crazy, at least I know I do!! Of course, none of this feels like work to me. Every minute spent doing something related to fishing is considered time well spent, and typically flys by. And chances are, most who are reading this likely feel the same way. I just never really stopped to think about what all of this must look like "from the outside looking in"... Like, when a stranger or someone tries to break the ice by asking you about fishing because they see a fish on your shirt, or because someone told them that you enjoy the sport, then having to stop yourself mid sentence because you caught their eyes glazing over while you were trying to explain how that big fish you saw was positioned the other day... Pretty much all of my friends are bass fisherman who lean on the more serious side, some of them call daily to talk about fishing, to the point where my wife calls them "The other women",followed by an eye roll 100% of the time... Just another example of how loony all this must seem from those outside of the sport! Thoughts?

New Garmin LVS34 Livescope Plus - New and Improved Live Scope Forward Facing Sonar
The BassTank put out a video of them actually using it, and based off of that, I think the new transducer is more of a "nice to have". When I have my LVS32 transducer dialed in, it doesn't look much different than what is shown in that video. And about the blind spot, I can't say that it has ever really been an issue for me... at least not a "need to throw $1200 into it" type of issue...

Fishing in the wind
Wind allows me to fish a little more "relaxed" in my opinion. - trolling motor doesn't spook the fish as bad (can get closer) - walking around and shutting compartments in the boat aren't as bad - lure imperfections are less visible - etc... In addition, I think wind makes bass more predictable in relation to where they set up...Then add the stirring around of the forage to the mix, I'll take the wind any day

Thumb guards for bass fishing?
I'd skip the thumb guards. If you keep catching fish like that you will eventually develop calluses... I'd go that route

That's It! I'm Taking It In!
Took my boat to the shop last week for an electrical issue I was having after adding an EchoMap Ultra, Livescope, and Mega 360 on my own to compliment the Helix on the bow... Was only getting 11.5v to the Garmin graph and after a month of troubleshooting and a re-wire attempt, I still couldn't figure out why, so I threw in the towel and took it into the shop... Well, I got the bird back today and the technicians notes read "All kinds of wiring issues". It was one of those things where all I could do was laugh because I had spent so much time (days) trying to make sure I wired everything correctly, and my effort resulted in "All kinds of issues". Anyways, I gave it my all just to save a buck and ended up having to spend it any way. With that being said, the boat shop did a bang up job and I am super happy with their quality work, and it turned out to not be as expensive as I was expecting... I'll be taking it in for any future wiring work as well... Anyone else have any similar experiences where they just finally threw in the towel and took it in? Doesn't have to be wiring related!

Solix 15 Or Helix 15?
I have 2 Helix's that I am swapping out for two 12" Solix's because I'm tired of not having a touchscreen. I came from Garmin Echomap Ultras and I miss the touchschreen so bad. No matter how long I try to deal with and get used to the Helix's they are nothing but frustration for me. But with that being said, I'm switching contrast and other setting CONSTANTLY while I'm graphing. My hand never leaves the unit, so for me, over a course of a day, a touchscreen can save me up to 30 minutes of button pushing... Well worth the additional power draw for me if there is any... it won't be like that for someone who just "Sets it and forgets it" with the settings though...

Conundrum: keep a secret place to myself?
I share information rather openly. For example, this is an unadulteraded photo of a fish that I caught out of one of my honey holes recently for all the world to see. Doesn't bother me in the least. I'll even drop the coordinates Latitude: 3° 12' 43.2" South Longitude: 5° 12' 39.6" West https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mösting_(crater)

Anyone use Lakemonster?
Never heard of it, but I will definately be putting it to the test during my next few outings, any off-the-water tool that is accurate can be very useful... Unfortunately my boats in the shop so it may be a few weeks. Will circle back (eventually) with my findings... Thanks for sharing! The site is likely just pulling information from external APIs that belong to other sites though (through code, grabbing information from other websites and sources and combining them into one place)... I wonder what those sources are. I thought about doing something like this with the accuweather or wunderground APIs, and making it more relevant towards fishing. Have been too lazy to build it.

Aids in Structure Fishing
This is how I do it... 1. Mark waypoint on side scan/down scan 2. keep idling about 50 yards or so past the waypoint before turning around, this allows me enough room once turned around to get a good accurate heading line straight to my waypoint 3. Have 75-100ft casting rings around my waypoints, once I break that casting ring with my heading sensor dead on the waypoint, kill the motor 4. Hop up onto the bow and make a dead straight cast Doing this, I'll hit what I marked on the first cast 95% of the time. It takes a bit of practice, but once you get it down it's pretty straight forward. Outside of that first cast, I spot lock and use 360/livescope if I'm trying to accurately pick something a part... After seeing the type of electronics that Bryan New has on his boat, I'm sure he's doing the same thing.
