Keep at it man! Posts like these remind me of what I was once told about longevity and that joint health is key... I am currently having knee issues that I have neglected. i.e. I can now pop my left knee out of socket at command... One day, that knee will be load balancing and I'll be screwed, and everyone around me will know it. I think I'm gona go get it checked out now...

Luckily we have new members here that love to contrubute when they can! Hopefully one or two of them will stick around
  3. I once had big dreams of starting a garden... even cut down a tree because it was "in the way"... d**n I miss that tree...
  4. Oh man I do love me some "everything else" section... It does alot to help me understand the others that actually follow BassResource topics and who I'm "hangin with", which I REALLY appreciate... you don't see a lot of people in there that just found this site off a Google search about "how to tie X Y and Z"... The General bass fishing forum is also one of my favs, as I have started a thread or two there... I really enjoy hearing other peoples prospectives on general bass fishing topics! I've tried the different texas specific forums and they just aren't like the BR crowd!
  5. As much as this sucks, it happens... I'm a cyber security engineer by trade, who makes a living by building security infrastructure and automations for a fortune 100 bank... and I can tell you that no matter what method of payment, besides cash in hand, that you use, you will always assume a risk (no matter how small, the risk exists) when shipping your (very much encrypted) banking/payment information over the wire. Think of it this way... if a company could promise 100% security for all of your information for the end of time, wouldn't they? Couldn't that feature be heavily monetized? well... it's not, because it doesn't exist. Billion dollar banks still have breaches and companies like LifeLock will continue to exist in this digital age "We have the perfect security, we can send our IR (Incident Response) team home" - no one My best suggestions... - Set up MFA/2FA (multi-factored auth) on EVERYTHING - as much of a pain in the rear as this can be to always have your phone on you or to check your email to verify banking activity, it is worth it, and any company worth a grain of salt offers it these days - Know the companies that are processing your payments (unless you are giving your CC to a TW employee over the phone to update an order, they will likely never see your banking info - AfterPay is a 3rd party, PayPal is a 3rd party, etc) - Take a glance at your bank account transactions and verify them at least once per day - Stop responding to "fun" posts on your social media feeds that say things like "share where you were born!"... because you will have given them the answer to a very common security question... THIS IS HUGE, but only one example of this... And don't think that I'm just sitting over here nodding a finger at yall... I've been a victim as well
  6. Love me a classic Aaron Tippin moment! and for what its worth, not a fan of anything planet fatness. They got mad at me once for telling my friend (who I was training) that he had a few more reps left in him - Yet no one bats an eye when the people at the front desk say that you have a few more bites of that free donut left in you on free donut and pizza day... My membership didn't even make it a full month
  7. I remember getting in trouble in middle school because my dog actually did eat my homework
  8. Not sure what is worse... This... Or accidently taking a swig from the dip bottle that you and your buddies have been spitting and ashing cigs in after having it cook in your truck for the last week. I don't dip/smoke anymore, but I remember doing that a few times and it still makes me nauseous. On another note, at least it's "caused" and not "causes" in the topic title... one would have been a little more concerning than the other
  9. This video clip is always a good reminder.
  10. My sonar looks the same no matter the light conditions... Find a brush pile or grass, waypoint it, and cast towards it... it's all feel after that. literally nothing changes from day to night when fishing offshore in the summer time as you wouldn't be able to see the cover or structure that your fishing regardless of the light conditions anyway
  11. I carry a Gold's Gym membership primarily for the dry saunas that they have (and work pays for it, which helps). When I feel like summer is right around the corner, I will spend a month or so going to the sauna 3-4 days/week so my body can kind of "relearn" how to handle the heat... and it tends to adapt pretty quick with consistent exposure to 160 degree temperatures! I try to stay in for around 30mins each time, 10mins in, 2-3 mins out, 10mins in, 2-3 mins out, etc... After starting that routine a few years back the heat doesn't really bother me [as] much anymore (as long as i'm well hydrated) as my body is ready for it by the time we start getting heat advisories down here, which have been every day here recently... May not be the type of exercise that this topic was referring to exactly, but it definately puts stress on the body that forces it to adapt, and for a good purpose in my opinion. That's about as close as fishing and exercise will ever get to each other for me though.
  12. belly buttons
  13. disclaimer: this post only makes sense when read from the prospective of a Built Ford Tough parody commercial. Below is the most family friendly example video I could find... Have you ever felt the braid dance on your index finger as you watched your sparkling white fluke dissappear from under a dock where you know the fish that you've been chasing your entire life is located but your wife keeps telling you to come home early so you've never actually been able to make the cast until this very moment and then you feel the bait finally skip into the bluff wall where no man has gone before? Well that's what it feels like to cast a spinning rod No Guts. All Glory. Spinning Gear.
  14. Boat flips only!!!
  15. Either manufacturers put on decent hardware from the get go, or put on dull nubs for hooks so I don't feel bad for throwing away twenty brand new trebles after every order.
  16. Since i'm seeing some recommendations thrown out, I'll share my sleeper pick... It's my understanding that when you sweat a lot your body tends to lose a lot of potassium and I have yet to find another product with even half of the daily value of potassium that this product offers (likely not safe if you have kidney disease - high potassium foods in general are a no no in that situation)... Plus, your body needs magnesium to even absorb potassium - It's got what you need there as well. Gatorades new GatorLyte is the only product that I've seen with the focus on potassium and magnesium like this - I think companies are atarting to catch on - but it's still only about half Been using it for about a year now and have noticed a huge difference in my stamina on the water during the hot South Texas summers ?‍♂️
  17. This has nothing to do with this post, but my entire life has been spent thinking that it was the "straightened arrow" that people had to follow... I learn so much here
  18. I would like to think that no one truly intends on being rude and inconsiderate, but rather people have different boundaries or what not... Like, you know those people who stand awkwardly close when they are talking to you? Well, it's not awkward to them... Other than that, some people just simply may not know the "rules of the road", like the whole coming off plane when passing someone, only to end up throwing wake at them... A lot of people think they are being nice... Now I'm sure there are those that just think they own the water and everyone else is just in their way... but I consider them a extreme minority in the sport
  19. Happy ones... I may have told this story on here before, but my mother thinks that her beta fish blows bubbles when it's happy. I mean she swears by it... So now every time I see bubbles at the lake I know there is a happy fish in the area... I hope I was able to add some value to this 10yr old post
  20. LOVE IT. Switched from Garmin EchoMap Ultras and I don't care what anyone says, Humminbird has the best SI in the game. Even though Garmins SideVu can hit the same megahurtz range as Humminbird with their UHD, it's just not the same... you will be very happy with Mega SI/DI
  21. This right here

  23. One of my favorite ways to approach bass fishing is to spend some time in my day fishing the next seasonal pattern and see if I can't be the one of the firsts to catch the next bite. Like, everyone will be on deep structure in the summer time, but a month or so before anyone else really starts thinking about it, I'll try out a couple of fall patterns throughout the day... It's one way to get away from the current pressure, and when you end up catching the next bite early, a lot of times you will have it all to yourself for a week or so while everyone is still spot locked on brush piles. I was rewarded this season by catching some late post spawn, bigger than average fish deep on main lake points while half of everyone else was still bed fishing... Those fish had spawned before anyone was ready, and were done by the time most people started sight fishing for em... Could fish all day without being anywhere near another boat, and the bite was HOT. Lasted about two weeks before everyone else started showing up to the party when of course, that bite began to die... I know fish are still heading out to the area, but so is everyone else now.
  24. wait... y'all don't do this? ? You never know when you'll need the frog...
