Are you careful with your gear?
Definitely treat some of my gear a bit rough, but I try not to abuse them.

Help me decide kayak or jon boat?
I started out in a kayak and fished from it for a few years. Last year I upgraded into a bass tracker. I would recommend getting a Jon boat as opposed to a kayak. Jon boats are more customizable, more comfortable on the water, able to move around, and allow for more storage. Plus you can also bring a partner or two on the Jon boat. I have nothing bad to say about kayak fishing, but I wouldn't go back to it. The only reason I would go back is if I no longer had a truck or the storage for a boat. When I was shopping around for a boat, I checked out Jon boats first in my area and they were similar in price to a tracker so I ended up with a tracker.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
Great info! I’ve been meaning for the past 2 months to get out on the water and give the free rig a chance. Now I’m even more determined and excited to go try it out.

Do you keep your reels on your rods or have many rods and one reel?
Once I match a rod and reel, I usually keep them together. Although with a few of my combos in the past, after fishing with them for awhile I decided I wanted something different and switched them around.

Do you mainly fish from the bank or boat?
Right now I feel like my time is split between the two. If I only want to fish for 2-3 hours I’ll throw on my waders and hit the river or local lake. If I have more time, I’ll take the boat out.

What is with people and throwing rocks in the lake
I feel like a lot of kids/people nowadays don’t care whether they bother fisherman out on the water. More than time again, I’ve seen people throwing rocks, letting their dogs run, or just splashing about with no regards to the fisherman nearby. At least this has been my experience in Texas.

What would you keep and what would you get rid of?
I wouldn’t get rid of anything, especially if you don’t have a ton of lures or tackle to begin with. You’ll never know if one particular thing is going to work great one day or not. What keeps fishing interesting for me, especially when I am not catching anything is trying different presentations and such to see what gets bit or not. Due to that, I like keeping an abundance of lures and tackle even if it’s something I don’t use frequently. With that said, if you give one of those lures a chance and just don’t like the presentation or it’s just not working after time and time again, may be a teller to move on from it.

Wax for tracker…
I use vinegar and water as well to clean the boat. From my research, there’s no harm to the painted aluminum from using that combo.

Wax for tracker…
I use Lucas Slick Mist Marine Wax on my boat, shine comes out good and it lasts.

Focusing efforts this year on Lunkers. "Knowing Bass" pdf was interesting but not too practical. Please help me a system/book! 'Big Bass Zone,' 'In Pursuit of Giant Bass' , Doug Hannon?
Reading books related to finding structure, locating big bass, and everything related to fishing is beneficial in my opinion. You absolutely cannot go wrong with reading books. You can’t always be on the water 24/7. Reading these forums, other resources and books are a good way to improve your knowledge base. With me, I love reading so when I got into fishing when I was 17, one of the first things I did was pick up a book related to fishing, Roland Martin’s 101 bass catching secrets(great book). The Infisherman concepts with largemouth bass are good reads. There are 3 of them.
