I use some made by Texas Tackle. I have the small ones with the lemon colored handles. So far they have worked with #2 split rings with no problems.

Safety Concerns for all River Fishermen
The reason I know this is my nephew lives by a creek and one guy kept fishing without permission. One day he was wading the creek and the game wardens were called on him. He argued with them but found out as long as was touching the bottom he was had no right to be there. I believe he was cited and forced to leave.

Safety Concerns for all River Fishermen
The laws vary from state to state. Here if you are on the water in a boat or kayak or some floatation device you are legal. If you are wading the water you are trespassing unless you have the land owners permission.

Need some help accessing.
Go to http://fw.ky.gov. Go to the fishing section and find places to fish. It will at least tell you where the boat ramps are on lakes and rivers. You can get a lot of other information once you get in to it.

"Staple" Colors You Have No Faith In
The only time black and blue work for me is on a jig and trailer. I can't catch anything on soft plastic Texas rig in that color. I'm not using green pumpkin as much as I did. Seem like the bite was falling off on that color for me.

Old baitcasters
I still have my first baitcaster. It is an Ambassadeur 5000. I got it in the late 60s. I also have 4 more of them. I don't remember what rod I had it on.
