We finally got some rain tonight. It rained for about 15 minutes and put down a whopping 1/10 of an inch. We have a fair chance and getting some rain tomorrow and a good chance of rain coming in Wednesday. Temps should cool down some next week.

It got in to the 90s here today. I stayed inside where it is cool most of the day. I forgot to mention in an earlier post that the ones getting rain are the lucky ones. We are looking at about a 10 day stretch before we have a shot at getting any rain.

I have changed out the hooks and added split rings. I also go with one size smaller hook when I do this.

I might get brave and decide to go early one day and quit early. I can fish a creek that is not too far away. @Neil McCauley I have fished lakes when the water temp was 90*. I did manage to catch a few but the bite was slow when it is that hot.

Starting Sunday they are forecasting about a 10 day stretch of temps in the low to mid 90s. Looks like it will be a while before I get out fishing again. I don't handle extreme heat very well. I was lucky enough to go yesterday but all I caught were two little SMB and two sunfish. Guess I will reorganize some of my tackle while I am taking a break.

I had a Johnson reel probably back in the 60s. It was okay but I never got it cast as good as the old Zebcos I had. I finally sold it at a yard sale.

Most of the places I fish have no launch fees or any other kinds of fees. I do fish one lake occasionally that does charge a $6.00 launch fee. They give you a tag to hang from your rear view mirror so when they check the parking lot they know if someone did not pay. Fishing the river the places I fish are also free. There are some places that charge a launch fee. A lot of the ramps and parking areas that are free were put in by the Dept. of Fish and Wildlife and the also stock fish in a lot of these places.

Many years ago my brother and I were coming into the boat ramp and saw a rescue squad boat being load on to the trailer. Found out some college kids were down there and had too much to drink. One tried to swim across the river and couldn't make it and drowned. One time a guy I worked with was going fishing with his dad and young child. As he was getting ready to put the boat in he spotted a body in the river. He got his dad to get the child away so it wouldn't see it and called police. The body had been in the water for some time but the police took him in and treated him like he was guilty of causing the death. Going by that if I found a body I don't know whether I could call the police or not.

I guess I am about a 4. I fish out of a 26 year old bass Tracker with a 40 HP motor. My 2 electronics both have 5" screens and are over 10 years old. I just use them for depth and temp. I don't have spot lock or power poles. I usually have 4 baitcasters and 2 spinning rods with me. I don't try all the latest and greatest things to come out. I stay with what has worked for me and hope it keeps on working.

It is raining here now and has been off and on since yesterday. They are expecting severe storms here tonight and again on Sunday. Then we get two or three more days of rain next week. The way it is going it may be the middle of July before I can get my boat out again.

Like many others have posted I use electronics to keep from running aground in shallow water. When fishing I will look at the screen occasionally to see the depth and temperature. I will never use a FFS unit.

@ol'crickety I've got one that is at least a close second. Possum Ridge state park has a boat ramp I use some. I will try to get a picture the next I go down there.

I need to lose some weight but I can't get motivated to get in to an exercise routine. I try to stay up and active but I am 72 so I am not going to worry about it now. Glad it is working for you and hope you make your target goal.
