  1. Hello and welcome to the forum.
  2. I try not to travel as far or spend as much time on the water as I normally would. My wife doesn't go with me very much anymore but when she does I usually cut it down to about a 3 to 4 hour trip.
  3. I only take 6 setups with when fishing. 4 baitcasters and 2 spinning setups. Usually only have three on deck at a time. I start with 6' medium -crankbait, jerk bait, or topwater. 6' meduim- spinnerbait or swimbait. 6'mh - soft plastics. I will pull out a rod for jigs or finesse soft plastics as needed. If I start pulling others out I am putting those away that aren't getting bites.
  4. You might be able to take it to your local tackle shop and get it replaced. Like ghotti said do not try to solder it.
  5. I wouldn't put on a boat on the water with that much current to it. You also have the safety factor of trying to avoid all the trash, limbs, and logs in the water when it is flooding. I would find a safer body of water to fish.
  6. I like the Gamakatsu hooks as well. For trick worms and others in that size I would go to a 3/0 or 4/0 hook. The 1/0 is fine for the smaller finesse worms.
  7. Hello and welcome to the forum. I can't help you with your depth finders but there plenty of people on her who can.
  8. If all of this is true it looks like Shimano is doing everything they can to lose business. I guess they want everybody to buy new instead of fixing the older reels.
  9. I agree with you and DRT about Sufix Siege. It is an excellent line.
  10. It could possibly be the line on them. I had two identical setups one time. I put new line line on both of them from the same spool. The one I used for spinnerbaits was fine. The one I used for crankbaits would backlash every time you cast it. These reels were the newer version of yours. They were the original Abu Garcia winch round reels.
  11. Wonder how well it would work on a float and fly setup?
  12. Falcon rods have been around along time. I have never tried one but they are supposed to be good rods from what I have heard about them. It is tough to stand out with so much competition in the rod market.
  13. Hello and welcome to the forum. Good luck finding new places to fish.
  14. I have to agree with scaleface except I don't spend as much time as I should throwing topwaters.
  15. I store my boat in the garage. I open my tackle box and lay out any crankbaits or spinnerbaits I used and let them dry out. I leave soft plastics and jigs on the rods. I put my rods and reels in rod socks and take them to the basement to store in a rod rack until the next trip. I back off the drags and spool tension knobs on all of them. I will check my line for bad spots and cut off and retie as needed. Usually cut off about 5 to 10 feet of line most of the time.
  16. On holiday weekends the Ohio navy always takes over the lakes. I can't help you with the more expensive rods as I haven't tried them. I am using a BPS Bionic Blade for Texas rigs and jigs. Mine are the older versions. I haven't bought anew rod in three years.
  17. Hello and welcome to the forum from another Ky. bass chaser.
  18. Hello and welcome to the forum. Fishing should be great up where you are.
  19. People like this are the reason I don't get on the water on holiday weekends. I would rather let those that have no common sense on the water have it to themselves.
  20. I like Zoom worms. Either the Mag 2 or Ol monster worms. They come in many colors. Getting them in your color choice should be easy.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
  22. I like the sharpening systems made by Lansky. I use one that has a small pedestal and clamp system. You can get several different types of sharpening stones for them. You can also use different angles depending on what kind of edge you want.
  23. Hello and welcome to the forum.
  24. I have more reels than rods. I like to able to change reels when needed depending on what I am using. I can't afford to buy rods for every application and having to many rods gets to be a mess in the boat. I try to use each rod for several different things.
  25. Thank you for your service and I hope every thing works out okay with this. If what I said offended you I apologize as that was not my intent. I was just trying to be funny about it.
