  1. "Never trust a big butt and a smile."
  2. Did you try 8 Mile Road in Stockton? There's a ton of YouTube videos of people catching crappie off the bridge, and the surrounding water in boats.
  3. The cheaters better check their tow vehicle every time they hook up the trailer.
  4. The Rainshadow Revelation 6'8" UL two piece. I love this rascal.
  5. I've built rods using these blanks: Rainshadow North Fork Composites RODgeeks
  6. I mostly get sick ocean fishing. When the local winds and waves are rough, or there's a bad swell I can become ill. I've personally chummed the water.
  7. Sometimes I think I like building fishing rods and computers more than fishing and using a computer. I've been eyeing woodworking and building some speakers.
  8. Hitena has size E thread in their nylon and NCP line. Some of their other thread, like the metallic and zebra, don't come in size E. Hitena size A seems a little smaller compared to ProWrap size A. I don't know how Hitena size E compares to other size E threads. I never wrapped with size E. https://hitenausa.com/rod-wrapping-thread/
  9. King salmon, steelhead, yellowtail, and Dungeness crab.
  10. I no longer file prep guide feet. For my ocean salt rods, if I use use guides like Fuji's CC models, I don't want to remove the surface that inhibits rust. Instead after I get 5 to 6 wraps onto the guide foot, I'll slightly pull the guide so the foot disappears under the thread. I've also stopped prepping the guide feet for my freshwater rods. I got the idea from rod builder Billy Vivona.
  11. Gorgeous build. What reel seat and reel seat hood was used? The reel seat looks like an Alps MVT.
  12. The reel seat has a recessed hood that fits into the cut out of a fly handle. The hood diameter is 21 mm or 0.826 inches. Make or buy a fly handle that can accept the hood size. The blank butt diameter should not be larger than 14 mm.
  13. Looks a bit weird and different. However the site looks cleaner, less is more. Well done.
  14. I apply three light coats of TM Lite. I could never achieve a satisfactory finish with a single coat of TM Lite. There are rod builders that can get away with a single coat of regular ThreadMaster.
  15. I prefer Generation 4 or ThreadMaster Lite finish over ProKote. ProKote takes a long time to cure, and it doesn't cure as hard as other thread finishes.
  16. If the space between the blank and reel seat is small, less than 1/8 inch, I'll use D size thread instead of drywall tape. Spiral wrap the thread tightly the length of the blank where the seat will be mounted. Apply epoxy and install the reel seat.
  17. Similar to Colby: Alps MVT reel seat. Fuji guide train: RV-6, 2-3 KB's and the rest KT's, all size 5. If you don't want to use the RV, try KW10, KW5.5, same KB's and KT's as before.
  18. How does that Testament rod fish compared to an Immortal? Very nice builds.
  19. Congrats. What are the specs for the rod? I wonder what you'll build next ?
  20. The SCV blanks are made in Park Falls, WI and sent to the Mexican factory. The nice thing is you can have the SCV blanks painted or raw. I don't know if RodGeeks has a slate color option.
  21. From RodGeeks FAQ: Our C2 blanks are the same as St. Croix's SCII, and our C4 is the same as SCIV. We do not have a direct SCIII equivalent because our C4 blanks are even higher performance at great prices. The Avid's use SCIII. The C4's are more sensitive, lighter than the Avids.
  22. The reel seat hood is probably a Fuji KDPS hood with a Matagi carbon sleeve. Although the hood looks longer than usual. https://voodoorods.com/products/matagi-reel-seat-hood-combo The carbon sleeve might be in the Matagi catalog.
  23. Pac Bay Minima titanium guides weigh less than the Fuji equivalent.
  24. Spoonplugger, yeah the new thread finish will have better bubble release. I'm intrigued by the blue color added to the resin that will disappear once the resin and hardener are thoroughly mixed. I forgot to add last year Mudhole purchased RodDancer, the company that owned TM.
  25. I never liked ProKote. It has a long pot life but it does not cure hard. I prefer Threadmaster Lite. TM Lite's pot life is not as long as ProKote, but it cures almost as hard as regular TM.
