Working to Stay Lean ~
Why do you think I put a seat on the front deck for Bass Trek? OG legs, and not enough exercise.

New spinning reel
Go JDM - get yourself a Miravel for $103/$112 (depending on size). I have the 2500 and 1000, and so far they've been very good...lighter than the Nasci by enough to notice. https://www.digitaka.com/items/5/4/1/MIRAVEL

Bass Pro Shop Tournament Special Baitcasting Reel
The Abu Max X is the upgrade of the older Black Max - well thought of for a 'cheap' reel. $50 + tax and shipping https://www.amazon.com/Abu-Garcia-Profile-Baitcast-Fishing/dp/B08X1JH2XP/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=6QCGTNSSQQQ&keywords=Abu+Garcia+Max+X&qid=1691620653&s=sporting-goods&sprefix=abu+garcia+max+x%2Csporting%2C114&sr=1-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1

What’s the general consensus on alternatives to traditional neds, particularly craw profiles with flapping arms like the Rage Ned or chigger?
Another one I picked up recently and seems to do well is the Mr Twister Ned Ringer...I think it's the 'flappy' bit at the end that does it.

I've had decent luck using Z-Man HogZ and CrawZ, so I think it could make the difference if they're not biting on the TRD Stick.

What exactly is going on with St. Croix?
^ I picked up some Mojos and Victorys over last winter - I've been pounding them pretty hard...things like dropping them on the deck and not 'gently laying them down'. So far they've held up. I think Glenn's got the right of it - more sales=more rods out there; and if the % of issues doesn't change, it still means more issues. Course if I wanted to go see them directly - it's a 4hr each way trip.

Was this unexpected?
"Foundation Outdoor Group has made a significant announcement regarding its recent acquisition of Mud Hole Custom Tackle, Inc. and American Tackle Company International, Inc. This strategic move positions the company as the industry’s largest supplier of fishing rod components, supplies, equipment, and rod building instruction. The acquisition combines the strengths of these two renowned companies allowing Foundation Outdoor Group to better serve its customers worldwide." https://foundationoutdoorgroup.com/2023/08/09/foundation-outdoor-group-acquires-mud-hole-custom-tackle-and-american-tackle/

AridX
Aird-X - yes, it's a good rod, not top of the line by any means, but much better than the price would indicate. My prime Frog rod is an Aird-X, 7'0", H/F.

Need a new Casting Rod
Check out the closeouts on the St Croix Mojo Bass line. Great rod, now at a great price. Was redesigned so stores are getting rid of the current model before the new model makes an appearance.
