  1. I remember mornings like that.... Oh wait - that was just last winter.
  2. I gotta toss Puppys more often - though the only color I have presently is G-Finish Shad
  3. If we could find a PCA to look after the wife while I'm gone...it'd be a sure thing...right now my trips must be short and close to home.
  4. Don't feel too bad - you could be this side of the border...I've got 5.5 months before bass season opens here and I can test out my 5 new rods and 7 new reels.
  5. Official for my area - 5.8" My backyard - 8"
  6. Especially this time of year with what Matt and Tim are putting out.
  7. Last rod purchase of the year - gives me three new Victorys and two new Mojos
  8. That's exactly how I look at them - for the general rods anyway. How Gary came up with his system I don't know...when a '703C medium heavy' is a 3 power, but a '705CB medium heavy' is a 5 power makes me scratch my head. So I just look at the line/lure stats and ignore the 'words'.
  9. My local go-to for vids is Matt Johnson...he puts out what/where/how vids on local lakes Glenn's and TB's vids are a must A-Jays vids are fun to watch Paul's vids are very educational.
  10. I just ordered a gift for her - something sappy, sweet - I expect happy tears when she opens it.
  11. Discount on the gift cards? Usually during their 25 days of Christmas sale starting middle of next month going to just past New Years.
  12. Ergo - Spin-cast - like the Zebco 33
  13. While I like a Mod-Fast for chatterbaits - those will work on a Fast action. The rest of the techniques you listed I use a Fast. So, 'The Marshall' - 7'3" MH/F - should fit your needs...good, general purpose length/power/action.
  14. And that's not a small lake - I fished it a few times when I lived in Bemidji.
  15. My @Siebert Outdoors Fogys are here - look great, Mike
  16. If casting into rocky areas with braid - use a leader...rocks are murder on braid - heavy FC here If doing finesse (Ned, Drop-Shot) with braid - use a leader...most braid floats and will affect the action - light FC or Mono here Knots to use to connect braid to leader - Albright, Alberto or FG
  17. Casting - "In angling, casting is the act of the angler throwing the bait and hook (or a lure) out over the water," Doesn't matter if it's baitcasting gear, spinning gear or fly-fishing gear...it's all 'casting' when you toss the lure/bait/fly out.
  18. This is why I cried in happiness when spinning reels came with switchable handles...I've always cast with my left hand. While I am right-dominant, my left arm is stronger and steadier...reason why though I'm a right-handed rifle shooter, I'm a left-handed pistol shooter.
  19. And this from the man who has his own personal color with Mike.
  20. I just renewed my DL - every four years it expires on my B-Day...$31 I willingly pay for my fishing license. The fees go to enforcement, habitat protection, launch ramp maintenance and other things that directly benefit fishing. We also don't have ramp fees like other states.
  21. ^ The Bait-Monkey disapproves of this message.
  22. Well, considering I got my two Patriarchs used for under $100 each...
  23. I've always loved Pflueger - for casting I have a President XT 7.3, a Supreme 7.1, this Supreme XT 6.4, a Patriarch 7.1 and a Patriarch 7.9
  24. I'll second the Procyon - I have a 7' L/F as my primary Ned/Drop-Shot rod. Another option in the same price-group - Okuma Reflexions...I have two of those and they're good rods as well.
