  1. That's got me scratching my head too - AFAIK all it'd do is remove the clicking sound when line is pulled against the drag. Ya, the Mitchell 320 I got in 1967 for my B-Day....I was still finding parts for it in the mid-late 80's locally at repair shops. Then I couldn't find something...hung onto it for a few more years, then finally tossed it in about 93. If I still had it, I could have found the part on the auction site or at least another one to use as parts.
  2. "Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur! Happy kitty, sleepy kitty, purr purr purr!"
  3. I hear you there - I turn 63 later this month and it has me like a 2-year old screaming "I WANT IT!"
  4. Latest posting from the NWS Twin Cities...this thing has been going on for over 2 years now. "Though we've talked a lot about precip deficits in the Twin Cities since June 1st, this drought can really be traced back to July of 2020. In the 28 months since then, 23 of them have seen below normal precip, with the precip deficit from July 20-Oct 22 at 20.03".
  5. We had a new record high yesterday of 76....tomorrow they're saying 43 for the high...
  6. It'll be next spring before I get it out on the water...but bench-testing - I'd put it above my Supreme. Very smooth, lube-job seems set right out of the box unlike the Pfluegers that I seem to always have to flush and re-grease/oil when new. I like the fact that the JDM version is available in the 5.0 gear ratio for 29IPT vs the USDM at 6.2 and 36IPT....I don't need a reel that fast.
  7. My Digitaka order has arrived. Ordered Mon @4PM arrived today at 12:30
  8. Nothing yet - maybe in a week or two.
  9. And don't just hook the clamp on - replace the hook with the clamp
  10. I finally tossed mine during the 'Great Tackle Sort' of 2019.
  11. Tomorrow here 71 Friday 43 Couple days to move to MI...ya, sounds about right
  12. I took my inspiration from a couple 'older' guys here...one is Goose52, and here's his rig
  13. I hear you there, Mike - I remember fully tearing down my old Mitchell 320...everything went back together fairly easy - except that &*()&(*&$@ bail...getting the spring to settle properly was the worst.
  14. I'd say 60%-80% casting and 20%-40% spinning depending on the day and what techniques I decide on.
  15. Bingo - spinner, chatter, buzzbait, and jig weights are for the head only. Hooks, skirts, blades and wires add onto that for the total weight.
  16. I popped in and selected MN...we're still having problems
  17. Strike King has the 'Mini-King' Booyah has the 'Micro Pond Magic'
  18. One of these days I may put either my Pflueger 640 or my Cardinal 562 on my Daiwa 1312 - everything is early/mid 70s vintage. The rod is still in great condition and both reels have been serviced and bench-test just fine.
  19. Take it back to the store you bought it - or if bought online, to a local store. They should have someone there who can put it back together properly. Also, as A-Jay said - that's the easiest/safest way to swap bail sides with the line.
  20. All this time living here ('74-'80, '84-present) and I did not know this...learn something new all the time. BTW: The lake I lived by in the 70s, Lake Bemidji, looks kind of like a bootprint and has the motto "Paul Bunyan stepped here." with statues of Paul and Babe by the lakeshore.
  21. Which is why NPR is my source....
  22. Mikes has a good selection - can search for it by part number or reel model https://www.mikesreelrepair.com/
  23. They have to trailer it or something....there's no direct connection between those.
  24. Like Papa said - you should be fine with that. Realize that the line suggestion is just that...a suggestion. You can go heavier, and when using braid, a lot of us do. I've got braid on two of my spinning rigs - 20# 832 on one that's 'suggested' 6#-15# and 20# Smackdown on the other that's 'suggested' as 4#-10# I wouldn't use the leader for chatterbaits....nor spinnerbaits, but yes with wacky, shaky, finesse jigs, etc.
  25. Go to a heavier braid - I run 20# on 2500 size reels Also, only put on 60 or so yards of the braid, back-fill with a cheap mono - Zebco Cajun 6# is what I use on my spinning reels for backing. If you're trying to whip it out there, ease off. You don't need to 'swing for the fences' when casting, a good wrist/elbow movement should be plenty.
