Pfluger president 25 failure...
That's got me scratching my head too - AFAIK all it'd do is remove the clicking sound when line is pulled against the drag. Ya, the Mitchell 320 I got in 1967 for my B-Day....I was still finding parts for it in the mid-late 80's locally at repair shops. Then I couldn't find something...hung onto it for a few more years, then finally tossed it in about 93. If I still had it, I could have found the part on the auction site or at least another one to use as parts.

Drought is really bad here
Latest posting from the NWS Twin Cities...this thing has been going on for over 2 years now. "Though we've talked a lot about precip deficits in the Twin Cities since June 1st, this drought can really be traced back to July of 2020. In the 28 months since then, 23 of them have seen below normal precip, with the precip deficit from July 20-Oct 22 at 20.03".

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
It'll be next spring before I get it out on the water...but bench-testing - I'd put it above my Supreme. Very smooth, lube-job seems set right out of the box unlike the Pfluegers that I seem to always have to flush and re-grease/oil when new. I like the fact that the JDM version is available in the 5.0 gear ratio for 29IPT vs the USDM at 6.2 and 36IPT....I don't need a reel that fast.

shimano sienna bail wire
I hear you there, Mike - I remember fully tearing down my old Mitchell 320...everything went back together fairly easy - except that &*()&(*&$@ bail...getting the spring to settle properly was the worst.

What brands have 1/8 ounce Bass spinnerbaits and what online vendors carry them?
Bingo - spinner, chatter, buzzbait, and jig weights are for the head only. Hooks, skirts, blades and wires add onto that for the total weight.

shimano sienna bail wire
Take it back to the store you bought it - or if bought online, to a local store. They should have someone there who can put it back together properly. Also, as A-Jay said - that's the easiest/safest way to swap bail sides with the line.

The drawbacks of a canoe.
All this time living here ('74-'80, '84-present) and I did not know this...learn something new all the time. BTW: The lake I lived by in the 70s, Lake Bemidji, looks kind of like a bootprint and has the motto "Paul Bunyan stepped here." with statues of Paul and Babe by the lakeshore.

They have to trailer it or something....there's no direct connection between those.

Like Papa said - you should be fine with that. Realize that the line suggestion is just that...a suggestion. You can go heavier, and when using braid, a lot of us do. I've got braid on two of my spinning rigs - 20# 832 on one that's 'suggested' 6#-15# and 20# Smackdown on the other that's 'suggested' as 4#-10# I wouldn't use the leader for chatterbaits....nor spinnerbaits, but yes with wacky, shaky, finesse jigs, etc.

Getting back into Bass fishing
Go to a heavier braid - I run 20# on 2500 size reels Also, only put on 60 or so yards of the braid, back-fill with a cheap mono - Zebco Cajun 6# is what I use on my spinning reels for backing. If you're trying to whip it out there, ease off. You don't need to 'swing for the fences' when casting, a good wrist/elbow movement should be plenty.
