  1. Ya - we had 67 earlier in the week...now we're looking at 30s and 40s for highs the next several days.
  2. Only time I ever did that was with my old Mitchell 320 and Pflueger 640...the bail-keep on both was a metal tab that inserted into a notch...no way to manually close without using the handle. Long as the total thickness of the stack isn't more than the current stack...I think you'ld have to go REALLY thin to do that on that particular reel...and too thin is just not good.
  3. Okay - this just popped up in my FB Memories. Last year, 24th of March. We're at about the same stage now - so ice-out is probably going to be close to last year's date of April 13. Looks like my original guess for this year is gonna be off.
  4. This is how I've been spooling my spinners for over 50 years - rarely have issues with line twist. If it works, use it. Not if you loosen the drag so the spool free-spins. I just open the bail when stripping line off a spinner - then I don't have to worry about the drag.
  5. Getting harder to do that with more reels missing the AR switch. (I gotta find something other than my Pfluegers if I want to upgrade...they've joined the 'missing AR switch' ranks)
  6. Then I can only chalk up the ER diagnosis as being under pressure...it's a madhouse most times...at least at my hospital...sometimes they don't quite pay as much attention as the docs manning the units do.
  7. See - I get it, then a day or so later, you get it. #youcankeepthesnow
  8. Could have just been an arrhythmia that bordered on a full attack...ER people could mistake the former for the latter. I'd trust the cardiologist on this.
  9. Unless it's pitching into cover - where I do pull it up fast to try another spot that might only be a couple feet away - I work the lure all the way back to the boat.
  10. Make it worse. You need steel both sides so it will slip. Make the steel one Carbon Fiber and it'll lock up tighter than....well...no...don't do it.
  11. So basically Lutfisk without the Lye treatment. Great Big Nope. (I may be 1/2 Swedish, but there are limits to my palate.)
  12. Schematic I looked at didn't specify - but it does only have one steel and one carbon-fiber disc...so there is that.
  13. Right on Daiwa's site - it's the 'Line Per Crank' column - and it assumes a full spool...so once you cast a lure out, it's gonna be less than what's stated here. https://daiwa.us/products/tatula-sv-tw
  14. Gear ratio never changes - it's the retrieve rate (how much line you take in on one turn of the handle) that changes. Any reel - the more line you cast out, the deeper into the spool you get, and yes, the retrieve rate will go down. Shallow/wide spools suffer from this less than deep/narrow spools.
  15. I took a look online - Micro Lite Elite has a bearing in the line roller. You can order small sheets of carbon fiber - about $7.50 on Amazon, enough for 3-4 reels. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=carbon+fiber+sheet+for+fishing+reel&i=sporting&crid=3CD8AAPNQ0J2I&sprefix=carbon+fiber+sheet+for+fishing+reel%2Csporting%2C116&ref=nb_sb_noss Then cut them out yourself...I did that for several of my spinners and a baitcaster. Make sure you get the correct thickness, then use the fiber washers as templates.
  16. Almost 32 years married here - and that's been our standard since day 1.
  17. Nice to know things are going better - that must have been scary, but they do know what they're doing. Dad spent his 68th b-day in Cardio-ICU - he just turned 88, still living in the house he and mom bought 36 years ago. We're here for you Tommy - take it easy for a bit and listen to your Doc.
  18. Wife is actually pushing me to get the F-9 completed so I can get on the water. Me being a full-time care-giver for her makes it difficult. Last couple years we had to schedule the day in advance and it was locked in. If the weather that day wasn't conducive for the canoe...I missed out. With the F-9, it opens a whole new realm...not only in range, but also weather conditions I can fish in. She's also working on getting some help in to maybe get me out on the water more/longer.
  19. Snow was melted by this morning - and running an errand I saw this. OPEN WATER! Ya, it's only about a 6'-8' stretch along the bank...but still..... It has begun.
  20. When I was a teen in Bemidji - we had a 17' Plywood runabout with a 1959 Chrysler 50HP. Friends an I would take it out to fish out of. No electronics...heck, we didn't even have a contour map of the lake...we just 'rolled dice' and picked places to try. Now there were some spots we knew - the Mississippi river inflow (south end) and outflow (east side) were always pretty good. And the north end (by the State Park) could also be counted on to yield fish...but we pretty much 'fished on the fly'.
  21. Those look like all Garmin units, Glenn. Echomap UHD 93 and Echomap Ultra 106's
  22. Gotta complete 'sealing' the dry boxes before finishing the framing for the casting deck 2 are done - gotta run out and get more of the 1/16" FRP to finish the other two.
  23. Yo-Zuri Hybrid
  24. On my casting reels - 10# Big Game is my backer of choice. Spinning reels - Zebco Cajun 6# - 1800yds for $6.49 at Fleet Farm. Once the braid is tied on and a few turns done to get the knot 'protected' - tighten the drag down, pinch the line with ^ yep...leather gloves, and reel it on.
  25. Yesterday, my back yard was just mud - no snow in sight...this morning woke up to this.
