  1. I've tried AbrazX, InvizX and Tatsu...the 1st and last being gifted to me from a generous member here. AbrazX was a bit too stiff for my tastes - it's been relegated to leader material on my 40# and 50# braid rigs...when I use a leader anyway. Tatsu - 'Oh My!' ... if I could afford it, I'd make this my FC line of choice, unfortunately my budget doesn't allow it. InvizX - based on comments here, I picked up a couple spools. If it isn't Tatsu on my reel, it's gotta be InvizX. Handles well even on my spinning rigs.
  2. Siebert Outdoors has tungsten jigs, bullet weights and drop-shot weights. Mike makes a good product. http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/
  3. I know the two listed as Pike only are just that...only pike are counted at the weigh in. One of them is during ice-season (2/12) up on Crow Wing - and it's a 3 hour thing Second is the yearly 'International Pike Tournament' on Gull Lake - a 2 day event the 17th and 18th of September. There's one guy in the neighborhood who's a pike fanatic. It's all he targets and everything else (bass, walleye, etc) is a 'trash fish' to him. Takes all kinds I suppose.
  4. Yep - the PMTT is still a thing. Doesn't get as much press as Bass tours as the top prize is $20k. https://promusky.com/ (blink) This coming year, there's two pike only tournaments in MN - quite a few that are perch/pike/walleye and a number of others that have a wide field of fish (pike/walleye/bass/crappie/sunnies/perch...) https://files.dnr.state.mn.us/recreation/fishing/tournaments/tourneylist.pdf
  5. One more thing to note about Mono vs FC Mono can recover (mostly) if it's stretched...FC, if it's stretched - toss it cause it doesn't recover.
  6. Yep - I've stated that exact thing a number of times in here.
  7. Ya - by our own Frydog...maybe a 'garage experiment', but it's still telling.
  8. I've refused to business with Wally World for decades...and it has nothing to do with the clientel.
  9. Pretty much any crank under 3/8oz gets tossed on my ML/MF spinning rig.
  10. Had Sold the canoe back in September to finance the new boat-build.
  11. Anchor trolleys on even canoes are 'da bomb'. I had one on the Sun Dolphin and it was really easy to set direction...and even change orientation if the wind direction changed while I was out.
  12. Oh...reels too? Boat rigs Pflueger - 6 Diawa - 3 Mitchell - 2 Shore rigs Pflueger - 2 Mitchell - 2
  13. Yep - and that's a change from 2020 when we could have 2 hooks. Tossed the Donkey rig right into the bin, as it was legal in 2020, but illegal in 2021.
  14. And we call it a 'dusting'...don't even dig the shovels out, just get a broom.
  15. That's how I corrupted my wife...moved her up here end of June...by the time the snow flew, she was hooked. I 'imported' her from SE Florida (Boca Raton area).
  16. My old runabout would top out at around 35mph...considering my main lake has a speed limit of 40 (yes, a lake with a speed limit) that's plenty fast for me. I've been on a speed boat - I think we topped out at around 90 (not this lake) and it felt faster than my old Cuda at 140. If I can get from point A to point B in under 1/2 hour...I'm fine.
  17. Diawa Procyon 7'3" MH/F - https://daiwa.us/products/procyon-freshwater-rods Okuma Reflexions B 7'3" MH/F - https://okumafishingusa.com/products/reflexions-b-series I have Procyon and Reflexions spinning rods and they're really good rods for the price.
  18. Our own DVT http://www.delawarevalleytackle.com/
  19. I use straight FC on my current ML/MF rod for small cranks...no issues yet with line twist. Used 10# YZH on the Okuma MH/MF...didn't notice any twist issues on that either.
  20. I could kinda feel the vibration, and feel when a fish swiped at the lure. It's not the greatest, but for a $100 for the whole rig, it's pretty decent.
  21. Just an idea - but this is the Okuma Stratus MH/MF with a Pflueger Trion-35. About $100. Ya, didn't net it cause it bit the line...stole my Rattlin' Rap 07 Bluegill.
  22. I try to be fairly consistant A couple years ago, it was mainly Diawa with a couple Dobyns Now it's half Dobyns, 1/4 Diawa and 1/4 Okuma
  23. I had an Okuma Stratus VI MH/MF - was actually a good rod, but sold it when I was re-aligning my rigs. It's a.....DSG/F&S/Public Lands exclusive. https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/okuma-stratus-vi-spinning-rod-19okuustrts56lghtrod/19okuustrts56lghtrod
  24. Ouch - I got a pair of keyed alike from Amazon for $23...Master Lock, so not a 'no name'.
