  1. Lake Minnetonka is an example. One of the most heavily pressured lakes in Minnesota, home to 10-13 bass tournaments a season - plus walleye tournaments, crappies tournaments, pike/muskie tournaments. The June 1, 2021 MN Bass Nation Minnetonka Classic top 5 finishers had 20#+ bags, 7 teams had a 5#+ bass in their bag The September 13, 2021 Denny's Super 30 had 6 bags of 20#+ and a 6#15oz big bass (monster for up here) Just two examples...and BASS still rates Minnetonka as one of the best bass lakes in the midwest. Tournament pressure plus all of us non-tournament fishers don't seem to be degrading the lake in the slightest.
  2. Agreed - great for breaking free rusted bolts/nuts (used it to dismantle the trailer), but a lousy lubricant.
  3. I have this pair for 'fine' work. https://www.aventools.com/needle-nose-pliers-146mm-5-75
  4. I prefer an overnight soak in vinegar followed by a light scrub with a brass-bristle brush...cleans even the rust in tight spaces.
  5. Doh! He's got a Fury 734 up there - which is a 'MH/F' despite Dobyns saying 'heavy'. The SLX MH/XF would be a good addition though...I've got 3 MH/F rigs myself...can't have too many of them because of their versatility.
  6. Fast action - the MH/F is the 'Swiss Army knife' of rods...does a number of things well.
  7. Same here - wife gets the float plan before I leave - regular 'check ins' during the day, final call as I'm pulling out of the ramp parking lot. Agree with not wanting it mandated - if people are stupid enough to not tell someone what their plan is...oh well.
  8. YZH isn't that expensive either - $10 for 600yds at TW.
  9. If you're going light - then drop the pound test. 8# YZH would be sufficient - 10# if you're a bit worried.
  10. Not a kayak - but my canoe was well 'stickered'. Dunno how much I'm gonna put on the boat as yet.
  11. Definitely exaggerated as by FryDog's test a few years ago, YZH had the second least stretch of all the mono/FC/copoly lines he tested dry...and the least stretch when wet. 12# YZH is my go-to for my crank-rig and I'll be putting it on my jerk-rig this year as well.
  12. I think it works a little better...the split-ring tip grabs the hook more securely IMO, making it a little easier to work the hook loose from the fish.
  13. I got the 7" Split-ring nose Kast King Intimidator pliers for $20 from Amazon last spring. They've done good by me. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07L2VBC7W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
  14. LiFePO is Lithium-Iron-Phosphate - the latest generation of rechargeable Lithium batteries. SLA is Sealed Lead-Acid - like you use in your car/truck/SUV...known as 'maintenance free'. AGM is Absorbent Glass Mat - an improvement on SLA, but still uses acid in water. LiFePo batteries can be drained to 10% max charge without issue SLA and AGM batteries, you're restricted to 50% charge before you start damaging them. So to get 6 hours of use at 1.25amps - you need 7.5AH usable. LiFePo, an 8ah battery would suffice, but better to have a little more buffer. SLA or AGM, you need a minimum of 15ah...so the 20ah battery gives you that margin.
  15. If it's a LiFePo battery - ya, you can run it for that 4-6 hours without an issue. If it's a SLA or AGM...need to up the capacity to a 20.
  16. Mepps Comet I've caught bluegill, crappie, trout, bass and pike on those.
  17. Everyone kind of bailed for dinner. I'd already had mine...
  18. Shipped - hope my vict...er...recipient appreciates the package.
  19. Oh, I'm not throwing shade on it - I have 6 Fury's in my lineup now and like them just fine. Just that if you can afford better, get better.
  20. 'Beautiful' is an subjective observation. Problem is...with the snow on top, it'll insulate the lake so the ice will form slower.
  21. Still got a bit - Maple Plain (north of me) recorded 5", Excelsior (south of me) recorded 7"...I'd say my backyard has around 5"-6" Further south, they got hit harder. Savage - 16.5", Shakopee - 14"...both south of the Minnesota River but not terribly far from me, so it was a steep curve to the amount.
  22. Fairly low actually...of course I use KVD which helps.
  23. My limited budget determines my rig Dobyns Fury 703SF with a Pflueger President XT-LE 30 loaded with 8# InvizX.
  24. I think even that's above them....tiddlywinks maybe?
  25. Kaden and Champ XP are pretty close to the same, and both are well above the Fury. With the current sale at TW - go with the Champ XP.
