  1. There are (or at least were) some good things there. I spent a week there for my job - training in the new software I was going to support. Stayed in a hotel on the edge of Printers Row, they had some of the best jazz clubs within short walking distance. Course this was back in the 90s...so things probably have changed since then.
  2. Whelp - looks like the snow is on it's way. Not too much here, but SE MN is looking at some travel issues before the weekend
  3. Diawa DX series - right around $100
  4. Here in MN - it's the renters responsibility to get insurance. The storage facility may offer insurance, but the renter has to sign the agreement and pay the monthly fee in addition to the cost to rent the space.
  5. If you're talking the 8.1:1 right hand - Hook Up Tackle says they have 3 in stock now.
  6. That's why I only order items that are actually in-stock from TW anymore. Never again will I order something from them that has an 'expected' date associated with it.
  7. I thought it was the brown bass that shivered in fear?
  8. Two more of the family Grand-uncle - John Hofschire - US Army, Sergent, injured at St. Vith Grand-aunt - Irja Ryssy - 1st Lt, front line nurse. John and Irja met when she was one of those in charge of his care...they got married after the war was over..Aunt Irja was the younger sister of R.Adm Ryssy.
  9. My grand-uncle J.W. was a Lt. Commander in the USCG stationed at Cape Lookout, NC when TSHTF. He told me that it was 'all hands on deck' for a while after. He got his promotion, command of a frigate and spent the war escorting cargo ships both in the Atlantic and later Pacific. Did so well as lead 'captain' of the escort group that he got a medal.
  10. Well, if I could afford it I'd use Tatsu as well - but I'm on a limited budget and InvizX is probably 2nd best.
  11. Fury vs Aird-X I'll use a Fury 704C vs an Aird-X 7' MH/F - the line/lure stats are identical so we're comparing apples to apples. Fury is a little softer in the tip - the Aird-X is a bit 'crisper'...I'd call the Fury a MF-F where the Aird-X is closer to a F-XF Aird-X is lighter than the Fury - 4.19oz vs 5.51oz...measured on my digital scale. I prefer the Fury cork/EVA handles to the all EVA of the Aird-X - just something about cork. Fury is more sensitive - I can feel the bottom better with it. I still plan on using both - the Fury for bottom contact with a Patriarch 7.1 and the Aird-X for moving baits (spin/chatter/buzz) with a Patriarch 7.9.
  12. I run 8# InvizX on my Pflueger President XT-LE 30 - which is a 2500 size reel. Does fine by me.
  13. First 'real' reel I got was a Mitchell 320 for my 8th birthday - way back in '67 I caught everything from sunnies to pike in lakes and ponds, striped bass fishing Cape Cod, and even trout in streams. For several years it was the only reel I owned until I picked up a Pflueger 640 in the mid 70s. Things broke on it, couldn't find replacement parts...as this was before the internet, I finally tossed it...should have kept it.
  14. My home thermometer reached a whopping 12 degrees earlier...it's down to 9 now. Supposedly, we're looking at 40s later in the week...we'll see.
  15. Had my picks for round 1 selected yesterday I'm in... And yes - Seth is going to be a constant again this year.
  16. Just those that I use for leaders on my braid reels - when I use a leader. Otherwise, no.
  17. ^ What he said. I've left mine in the garage and it occasionally gets down to -5 to -10 in there...not an issue.
  18. In my case here in MN - most of my line choice is for when that 9#+ pike decides it wants my bass-bait. Or the off chance a big muskie takes it...a 54", 51lb muskie was caught in Minnetonka a few years ago...so we do have monsters here.
  19. If I'm tossing them into open water/sparse vegetation - 15# Tatsu If I'm tossing them into heavier cover - 40# 832 with 15# AbrazX leader.
  20. Lost in Space "Let me drive!"
  21. I probably won't increase my arsenal - just slowly upgrade from this point BC rigs: 4-Dobyns Fury rods 2-Diawa Aird-X rods 2-Diawa Fuego CT reels 1-Diawa CA-80 reel 2-Pflueger Patriarch reels 1-Pflueger Supreme reel Spinning rigs 2-Dobyns Fury rods 2-Okuma Reflexions rods 1-Diawa Procyon rod 2-Mitchell Avocet RZT reels 1-Pflueger Supreme reel 1-Pflueger President XT reel 1-Plfueger President reel
  22. I didn't get out much this year due to various things, but the two baits that caught bass this year were 1: 3/8 Z-Man Original chatterbait, white/chartreuse with a 4" Pit Boss trailer in Skeet's Chartreuse Shad 2: #2 Blue Fox Flash Spinner in Blue Shad
  23. Don't get your hopes up...I cancelled an item last year after the 5th date-slip. Original 12/6...when it eventually pushed out to 3/22 I gave up and ordered it for a little more from someplace that actually had them in stock.
