  1. I got a 60 pack of medium size 'Al's Golfish Hook Bonnets' from Amazon - they fit as well as the Owners, but lack the 'button' on the bottom for easy grabbing. Difference in price between the Owner and the Al's Goldfish was 1/2cent per...or to put it another way...45 Owner for the same price as 46 Al's - I'll get Owners from now on as I like that 'button'.
  2. I think a lot of us who lived 'up nord' miss it. I still miss fishing Blackduck, Little Bass, Big Bass, Leech and George - as well as trout on the Straight River in Park Rapids - from when I lived in Bemidji.
  3. I got about 40gb of music on the tablet's Micro-SD card - Media Monkey plays it for me through some mini-stereo speakers.
  4. Sounds like you're gonna be busy when you're not on the water. Have fun.
  5. Helps to know what he's doing with it. I still use my Tablet for contour maps with GPS tracking. There are 'tossable' sonar units that transmit to your tablet or phone a chirp finder screen. None of it as as good as boat-mounted units - but they do the job.
  6. HA! You're getting what we got a couple days ago. April 5, set a new record high for the day at 85 April 13...we had this.
  7. My rods for those? Spooks, Ploppers (to 110), Buzzbaits, etc - Dobyns FR-704C or 7' Diawa Aird-X MH/F Poppers, Puppies, Jerks, etc - Dobyns FR-703C
  8. I'm good with anything - I don't fish weekends because of the increase in boat traffic on the weekends, I don't feel safe in the canoe...so I fish weekdays. But evenings are always clear.
  9. SLX 150 series is a light reel - the 151 is the left-hand version.
  10. I don't have either - nor have I handled them. But I have the Fury 702SF and really enjoyed it last year. From what I've read here, the Sierra is a little softer in the tip so if I was going to upgrade from the Fury, it's probably the one I'd go to.
  11. Nattie Up North - she does deep-sea fishing, spear-fishing, chases crappie and musky as well as things on hiking, camping and outdoors cooking...and bass fishing here and there too.
  12. My President-25 is going on 3 years now with no issue Which I did not only with the Pres-25, but also my Pres XT-30
  13. Wow - it has been a couple weeks, hasn't it. Dean - WAKE UP!
  14. I keep thinking we need to call you 'Big-Bad John' during the Zoom meets - but what tag would we hang on Glenn?
  15. So Type 2 in my explanation above. I think I prefer the shallow cap that my Mitchells have over that big-honking thing sticking out the other side.
  16. My best luck has been with 4" Berkley Pit Boss - pack of 8 for $3.99 at TW.
  17. It's a new model this year, so while some here may have some experience, it's not going to be widespread. I'm still trailing the pack with Furys myself...
  18. Yep - I've been using Pfluegers since the 70s and they've always been good to me...this one's replacing a President - trying to get all my BC reels to aluminum frame...only one plastic-frame left now. You don't like them...you don't like them...gotta find what works for you.
  19. Well - our stimulus checks came in...and I ordered a right-hand one from Amazon for $62. It'll make 2 of the Supreme 7.1's I'll have in my arsenal. I was very happy with the one last year...so for me it was a good deal.
  20. If you're not going to use leaders - stick with straight FC. Some presentations you'll use that rig for are slow and the braid 'might' scare the bass off. I'd suggest 15#-17#.
  21. Finder can't tell if you're moving or not - so it just scrolls the screen at the same-set speed. You can adjust the speed of the scrolling on some models, but you can't stop it. Standard chirp sonar is sent and received in a cone - the deeper the water, the more area is covered. If you're sitting still and a fish swims into the cone and appears on the screen - it could be anywhere in that cone...in front, to the sides, behind, etc...no way to tell where it is other than it's in the cone.
  22. Sounds like the handle isn't fully seated. All my spinning reels have the hinge when the handle is partially unscrewed - it's to make the reel more compact for storage...you can also unscrew the handle and remove it to swap sides. Two ways to seat the handle 1: The handle actually unscrews from the body - hold the section with the bail and turn the handle...if it doesn't move closer or further from the body, you got type 2 - otherwise turn it until it snugs up. 2: Opposite side of the handle on the body, there's a cover that has a thumbscrew. Turn that the proper direction and the handle should snug up. Note that this type is a bit more delicate than Type 1 - so don't try to tighten down hard.
  23. I've got that rod and for cranks I like a 6 speed Bottom of the heap for decent reels: all of these are aluminum framed. Pflueger Supreme 6.4 (since it's out of production now, can find good deals) Diawa Fuego CT 6.3 (I have this one...works great for cranks) Shimano SLX 6.3 Upper end: Pflueger Patriarch XT 6.4 (another OOP reel than you can find for a deal) Diawa Tatula Elite 6.3 Shimano Curado 150 DC 6.2 There's more out there from other manufacturers - and several more from the thee manufacturers above inbetween the models I've listed.
  24. (dangling a tempting target in front of Angus' bait monkey) Sheels is currently discounting the Pflueger Supreme LH 7.1 by 30% - RH is still full price https://www.scheels.com/p/pflueger-supreme-low-profile-reel/8950-1315404-BOX.html?cgid=fishing-baitcast-reels
