  1. I haven't noticed a casting distance difference between my leader starting length of 6'-7' and my 'change out' length of 3'. Really it shouldn't make a difference.
  2. Yep - 2amp is a trickle charge...just make sure the charger is an automatic one - shuts of or goes into 'maintenance mode' when the battery is fully charged...manual for it should tell you.
  3. I wouldn't unless the car charger is capable of switching to 'trickle charge' of 1-2 amps instead of the normal 10-15 amps of a standard charger. My old charger had a switch on the panel to change it from 'fast' (12amps) to 'trickle' (1amp).
  4. Just need a 12v battery - this one is 6"x2.5"x4" and weighs all of 5lb. https://smile.amazon.com/Mighty-Max-Battery-ML9-12-Rechargeable/dp/B00K8V2Y8W/ref=sr_1_5?crid=3EF0C59T1050J&dchild=1&keywords=small+12v+battery&qid=1618083585&sprefix=small+12v%2Caps%2C207&sr=8-5 Since it's a Sealed Lead-Acid, a decent automatic-charger will handle it...no need for a specialty charger. At 9AH, it'll last you 2-3 trips between charging.
  5. I'm at the low end with Furys, but they've been good to me. Last year had two - a 702SF for finesse spinning and a 705CB for crankbaits. This winter I added three more, a 703SF replacing an Aird-X M/F spinning, a 703C replacing an Aird-X M/F casting and a 704C adding to my MH/F arsenal (now have 4 MH/F rigs). If you can afford the higher end Dobyns, get them - but the Fury is a good 'budget' rod.
  6. While the reel is a little slower than I like - that'll work for flip/pitch. I do like a heavier rod to haul them out with, and be able to use heavier weights - that'll also work. If you need to learn how to flip/pitch - this one of the better vids on it.
  7. Minnesota closes bass from end of February until the middle of May...pike and walleye are also closed that same period.
  8. Ya, I've put in my 2-cents to St. Paul about this...course they'd have to come up with the money to increase patrols - especially on Minnetonka where the nuts come out in full force.
  9. Same here - and my 'homey' moves up into the top 10 7 25 39 62 28
  10. I haven't seen those - have original Comets that work good. I might have to dig some money out of the couch and get a couple to try.
  11. Pflueger - all four of mine are quiet...
  12. That's just it, man - this is the second one, he did exchange one and the second does it as well.
  13. I hit that years ago - even before I retired.
  14. My Fuego-CT 8.1 makes it too...I did tear-down and inspection, nothing out of whack that I could find, new grease/oil...and it still does it. Doesn't seem to affect the performance, so I just ignore it.
  15. I don't like dry wines - just sweet ones. But thanks...
  16. Official stats are up and wow - places changed - now for my guys it's 16 46 54 61 17 My previous post was based on BassTrakk.
  17. Air temp doesn't matter as much as water temp for spawning. Checking my water-temp website - the closest lake they have readings for is Duane Lake over by Duanesburg... 54 degrees today...so I don't think Collins will be much warmer. They're probably setting up in pre-spawn mode now - spawn will happen when the water temp hits around 60. Here's the link to Duane Lake temperature monitoring so you can keep an eye on it - https://www.beachtemp.us/beach/948713/
  18. In the $80 neighborhood, Procyon is one I'd recommend - I have one. Another is the Okuma Reflections - have two of those...haven't fished with them yet, but my 'bench-tests' show that they're a good rod in that price-group.
  19. Better than I usually stand at the end of round 1 22 32 67 39 13
  20. Unless you've already made your pro-picks for this weekend...too late. Selections lock just before the tournament starts.
  21. Never had an issue yet - and that holds true even when I have it plugged into a wall-socket at home over my work-bench. Days of being plugged in and no overheating at all.
  22. I don't have a Go-Pro, I use Dragon Touch - but the basic battery life is the same. For my deck-cam - I have it plugged into a USB port that draws it's source from my deep-cycle battery through the 5amp port on the Minn-Kota Power Center. For the shoulder-head cam, I have a 10,000 mah external battery I keep in the pocket of my PFD with a cord running to the camera.
  23. It's not an extreme amount 7.3:1 - max IPT is 30.5 8.1:1 - max IPT is 33.9 So 3.4" per turn of the handle if you crank at the same rate with a near-full spool.
